Imagine building a barn so well that it would still be standing more than 750 years later.

At Barley Barn, that is exactly what happened.

Built around 1260 in the Essex village of Cressing by the Knights Templar, Barley Barn is one of the oldest surviving timber-framed barns in the world.

That means it was already standing:

- Around 200 years before the first printing press reached England.
- More than 270 years before the English Reformation.
- Over 340 years before the Gunpowder Plot.

The enormous oak frame was designed to protect the harvest of the surrounding estate, using timber joints cut by hand and secured with wooden pegs.

Every beam was shaped by medieval carpenters using little more than axes, adzes and chisels.

More than seven and a half centuries later, those medieval timbers still stand beneath the same roofline, making Barley Barn one of the finest surviving examples of English craftsmanship.

For a church on the brink of closure, this must have felt like a miracle!

St Wilfrid's Church in Melling, Lancashire, was facing closure after its congregation was unable to raise the £750,000 needed for urgent repairs. Then, while preparing for morning prayers, the vicar made an astonishing discovery beneath the altar, a small box containing nine gold Britannia coins worth nearly £30,000.

The unexpected find has given the church a lifeline. While it won't cover the full cost of the restoration, it provides the funding needed to begin applying for grants and move forward with saving this remarkable 14th-century building.

Sometimes history really does have a way of surprising us.

When I was Muslim, I used to smirk at the shortest verse in the Bible. A crying God? Weak.

“Jesus wept.” John 11:35. Two words. It should bring you to your knees.

Then I actually read WHERE He’s standing.

At the tomb of His friend Lazarus. And here’s the part that undoes me: He’s about to raise him. In sixty seconds He’ll shout that dead man back to life. The victory is already loaded.

And He weeps ANYWAY.

He didn’t have to. The happy ending was already in His hand.

But He looked at the grief around Him — the sisters, the mourners, the sheer wreckage that death makes of everything — and He entered it. He let it hit Him. God, with tears running down His face, at the graveside of someone He loved.

The God of Islam was too majestic to weep. I was proud of that. Until I met a God who was strong enough to.

“We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.” Hebrews 4:15.

Whatever you’re burying right now — He’s not watching from a safe distance.

He’s the God who weeps at gravesides.

And then empties them.

Now you and me get to rejoice forever with our Lord Jesus Christ.

JUSTICE FOR 20-YEAR-OLD CODY HARPER!

He’s scheduled to appear at the Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on July 23rd on the false charges of assaulting a police officer.

He could be sentenced to around 6-12 months in prison if wrongfully convicted.

But here’s what they don’t want you to know:

Cody was viciously assaulted by a group of black men on Broad Street in Birmingham.

Instead of protecting the victim, West Midlands Police arrested him while his attackers fled the scene.

They initially tried to downplay it as a “fight”.

Thanks to the footage shared on X, they were forced to admit it was an assault on Cody and are now scrambling to investigate the real perpetrators who got away.

How can victims of crime be so easily arrested and persecuted in this country and criminals are allowed to get away and even treated as victims.

This is two-tier policing in plain sight.
White victim gets slammed, charged, and threatened with prison. I hope Cody has good legal representation and for heavens sake doesn’t plead Guilty that’s how they will win.

Why won’t the Home Secretary summon the Chief Constable to explain this disgrace?

Demand full bodycam and CCTV footage be released immediately.

Demand the charges against Cody are dropped.

Demand real justice.
