@roesch_scott I don’t keep any replacements back, but
have been buying heifers or young cows back every year. I did some expansion and aggressive culling the last 3 years. This year I bought enough to keep numbers up and I feel doing this over the long term will equal out. Utilizing LRP too.

@Bkitch1Bodie Manure is typically a “bonus” on our farm. I usually spread the lighter parts of fields to accelerate the build program. This fall we covered about 50 ac and due to p&k prices we won’t put commercial fert on that.

@gavin_spoor A lot of years the cattle didn’t make money and grains did! Diversity sure stabilizes the balance sheet year to year with some custom work sprinkled in there.

@gavin_spoor For the money, I’d honestly look for an 8000-8010 JD 2wd or mwfd. Higher hp if you’d need it, longer frame that makes a smooth ride, better cab/controls, and it’ll be just as nimble as these tractors.

@thefarmerslife @AgrisAcademy We have an excellent custom guy that runs his sprayers with our supplier and I think it’s the best money I spend each yr. I hate dealing with the chem and just too busy putting up hay in the summer.

@bl_ag_inc I’m living that! Swathed mine, 2 days later had 1.5. Finally get combining yesterday and have issues with the old pickup head. Get two trucks loaded before we were chased out by that massive storm last night.
