If your downtown is empty and your city isn’t creating a robust programming schedule, they aren’t serious about fixing it. Farmer’s markets, art fairs, concerts, etc. occur weekly here. Give people a reason to come downtown and they will. And redevelopment follows.
Right place/right time.

Lots of ideas floating
1) industrial market has the flu-rental rates sliding caused by over supply.
2) return to old school marketing by calling customers and clients
3) better be concerned about diversity because your customers are diverse.

Great team will create a sense of place. Innovative and well capitalized with big hearts for Greensboro.
The following is a post from one of my business partners at NAI Earle Furman in Greenville, SC. Greensboro needs to come up with a Downtown plan, pay attention to detail, and spend the money it has wisely. Leadership needs to step up. Average is not acceptable.
Every city’s downtown should look like this on a beautiful Saturday morning. Local governments need to invest in creating a sense of place and/or allow private developers to do so. My city has done a phenomenal job of this - especially public/private partnerships. Every downtown COULD have this. It’s all about good decisions. Hold the decision makers accountable.
The same view separated by several decades. This is the type of positive change that can occur when you have a city that actually follows through on strategic plans and embraces public/private partnerships. I am so fortunate to live and work here.
Note to Greensboro City Council:
Support Chief Thompson’s request to increase salary for police officers. We just lost 5 to Burlington where the starting salary is $55,000 per year. We have 118 vacancies. Be bold and decisive. Leadership for a safe city!
