We’ve been waiting at the airport holding the ‘Welcome Manzambi’ board for a full week thinking he’ll still turn up. Surely you take the hint and bin the deal off if he’s not 100% for it.
Fair play to the lad though, chose the better option especially now Onana is injured.
🚨 EXCL: Aston Villa in process of finalising move to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg. Newcastle United had agreement with #SCF but #NUFC lacked player approval. 20yo Swiss midfielder wants #AVFC & deal now accelerating towards conclusion @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/UTfbtXcSaH
It’s pretty impossible to suggest any positive outcome that can come from this, but whatever happens this must be resolved soon.
If we sold Bruno to a non-PL team, then instantly reinvested in Angelo Stiller, I’d probably just about take it under the circumstances…

Well £60m in this midfielder market is surely a joke.
This is a world class player that could easily play at the highest level for at least the next 5 years given his style of play.
If any team manages to get this lad for £100m it’d be an absolute bargain.

@snapshotsupers2 Completely missing the point.
You only sell a player if the buying team values them more than the selling team.
You now have to find a team that values him £8m-£10m more than we do, and to us he’s a world class club captain with a 3 year contract. Unlikely.
This is a huge update. Bruno deserves to be earning £250k+ but it makes no financial sense offering that given the negotiating position #nufc are in. A sale makes no sense either now there’s a 20% sell-on, but doing nothing risks an Isak situation which is Bruno’s trump card.
This isn’t actually a bad take.
Bruno is a better footballer than Tonali, but what Arsenal lack is a Rice backup and a 6 - Tonali is the perfect profile for that.
Also, Miley deserves to be starting as a 6 now, so a Tonali sale for good money would be fine from our perspective.
I'll be honest, I'd rather Arsenal spend £100m on Sandro Tonali than pay a massive fee for Bruno Guimarães.
I genuinely do not understand the excitement around Bruno Guimarães. If Arsenal are about to spend a ridiculous fee on a player turning 29, then the club has learned absolutely nothing from the mistakes that have cost us in the past.
People keep bringing up Aubameyang as if it's some sort of winning argument. Aubameyang arrived as one of the most devastating forwards in Europe and, most importantly, was available. Bruno's situation is completely different. Go and check Newcastle's record over recent seasons and look at how many games he has missed compared to the fee being discussed. You're talking about committing huge money and huge wages to a player whose value can only decline from here.
What's even more confusing is that Arsenal don't actually need him.
We already have Eze. We already have Ødegaard. We already have Merino. We already have Lewis-Skelly developing. If Morgan Rogers arrives, where exactly is Bruno supposed to fit?
And before anyone says "world-class players improve every team", that's not how elite squad building works. You don't spend a fortune collecting names. You spend a fortune solving problems. Bruno position is not an area of concern for Arsenal.
If Arsenal are willing to throw £100m at Newcastle, I'd rather they go all-in for Tonali every single day of the week. Younger, more athletic, more physical, more suited to what Arsenal actually lack in midfield.
This feels like one of those transfers that gets fans excited on announcement day and leaves everyone asking questions 18 months later.
The obsession with Bruno Guimarães is starting to look like fans wanting a shiny new player rather than the player Arsenal actually need.
I’m a bit bored of feeling sorry for the lack of money #nufc have available to be honest.
Even if Wissa worked out well, it’s still £55m spent on a player with no resale value which for a club in a difficult PSR situation is a painfully inept decision.
I guess the point that @LukeEdwardsTele is probably attempting to make is that the Ngumoha approach will make a player feel more comfortable at their club, whereas the Tonali approach will unsettle them.
Unfortunately, the latter approach is a weekly occurrence for #NUFC fans.
@FabrizioRomano doesn’t lie, but the selective tweeting is pretty obvious tbh.
Remember when Bayern enquired for Ngumoha? Not a single tweet on Bayerns interest, only that he’s ‘untouchable’.
When Spurs enquire for Tonali, it’s 👀 spammed everywhere as if it’s a done deal…

@LukeEdwardsTele where did I lie? I said Julián wants to go, as he just confirmed. I said Barça want him and up to Atléti, and that’s the case. Lies? Zero. You did 500 tweets saying Isak was gonna stay… or Trafford going NUFC same day went City. Think about yourself, then you talk about me. 🤗
🚨 Newcastle United are pushing to sign Chelsea striker Liam Delap this summer.
The Magpies are keen on the England forward as they explore attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.
Chelsea are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of £40M for Delap.

I rate Ez Abde, but it’s concerning that the profile of winger we’re going for continues to be purely focused around physicality over creativity.
Would love to see us go for a player like Tzolis, but can’t see us going for that style of player under Howe.

🚨🆕 Newcastle have stepped up their interest in Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli 🔥
Top scouts believe he is actually 'better suited' to the Magpies than Victor Munoz...

If Liverpool were always at the table then @FabrizioRomano always knew about it.
Every tweet saying “#NUFC are confident” was with the knowledge that Liverpool were likely to activate the release clause and “hijack” the move.
Embarrassingly, we put it on a plate for them…
🚨 Newcastle thought they had a deal in place for Victor Muñoz — before a late Liverpool hijack.
✔️ 💰 Newcastle had a fee of £29m (+£4.3m) ACCEPTED by Osasuna and the player had AGREED personal terms and told #NUFC he wanted to sign. Agent fees were also agreed.
👨🏻⚕️ Newcastle had the wheels in motion for a medical over in the US and were on the verge of completing a deal.
😐 But they were instructed to wait over the last 24 hours by the player's representatives, and #LFC swooped.
🔴 Liverpool had always been at the table for Muñoz so they didn't come in last minute, but agreed £34.5m release clause (two instalments) and Muñoz chose Anfield.
🤷🏽♂️ Newcastle now trying to get to the bottom of what happened in the last 24 hours, but there was always top competition for the winger last few weeks.
@DougieCritchley Rashford is on around £300k per week and has 2 years left on his deal. He won’t take a pay cut so Barca would have to pay him a similar amount.
If Gordon asks for £150-200k pw then that’s ~£7m less per year, ~£35m less over a 5 year contract in wages alone, plus resale value.
The winger market is stacked, probably the best time to cash in given his replacement could genuinely end up being an upgrade.
Also, I’m convinced his replacement will be a name that hasn’t been reported yet - my guess is a player who we know won’t be at the World Cup…

🚨#Newcastle Anthony Gordon – Bayern move imminent!
📌 Newcastle’s winger expected to join Munich for around €80M.
🔥 Magpies already searching for replacements, with Lille’s Matias Fernandez‑Pardo among the options.
👀 Bayern are also monitoring Lewis Hall, though Liverpool & Man United are in the race.
It’s not a stretch to say that his impact over the past 6 games has matched the type of impact that Isak used to have. There’s simply no attainable striker on the market that has higher potential.
Has to be our starting striker going into next year imo.

@LukeEdwardsTele My main concern is that the successes here all came when we weren’t in Europe. I’ve seen nothing that suggests Howe’s style is sustainable when playing two games per week.
Might mean we have a good season next season, but then we’ll be in the same boat again the season after…
@MagpieMediaX I’m not convinced that Howe is a long term solution to be honest, but this could be the first summer window since 2023 where there’s been decent preparation for it. Scrapping those plans and bringing in a new manager feels more risky than giving him a window to make it right imo.
@MagpieMediaX@NUFC__USA Is there a case for any of them to be integrated into the first team in the way that Miley was, especially Neave and Shahar given the current form of our strikers & lack of right-back depth?
@caseysean51 With Bruno fit, no Europe, and a summer window with someone competent in charge of transfers, I’m pretty sure we’d be challenging for the CL next season with Howe.
With a new manager, it could work, or it could fall to pieces like Spurs has. The latter is too big of a risk imo.
