@ic3creamman@WilliamNB I did the South Downs Way (100 miles) in a day on the basis of a fairly unhilly 10 miles each way daily commute.
Sounds like you're already fit enough if you're commuting that 15 miles now.
@CyclingForMind "... and think about where you choose to cycle."
In primary, unless it's as safe for me to cycle in secondary and there's someone behind me.
Is that what he means ?
@SteveWps@gmccarthyfe My father was onboard a ship coming up the Thames (somewhee between '45 and '55). New fangled hydraulic powered steering. Pump failed. Dad had read the instruction manual. 80 turns of the wheel pumped enough fluid to give 1 degree of rudder. Cue shagged out helmsman.
@2wheelsgoodBrum Yup, undeniably. Many do. My sense however is that of the 48% quoted, even if it was completely safe, most of them would find another reason not to cycle.
@2wheelsgoodBrum I'm sceptical about stats like this. I think mostly people are too lazy to cycle and love driving everywhere, so will point at any reason not to. Safety, hills, cold. Sort all that and they still won't cycle. Dissuade driving - the only answer.
@TheBishF1@archer_rs Didn't he try attacking a V2 as it was launching ?
I think he claimed this was the only instance of a conventional fighter attacking an ICBM (and who could doubt that ?)
@louisetickle Amazing pressure you've applied. Well done. Perhaps you'll no longer need those cushions hanging on the wall which you bang your head against.
@chausseedeforme@cyclegaz Before the wands appeared, I always described my evening descent from Bec to Broadway, if negotiated after the 7pm "park like a crazy thing" cutoff, as the closest I've ever come to being in a video game. Except in this world if it goes wrong it hurts.
