I wouldn't read too much into UDA's decision to accept defeat so easily. When they can't rely on sympathy, division, or violence, they're not particularly good at executing intricate plans. I think they're simply shocked. They knew they might struggle, but not by a 86–14 margin.
In 2022, Ruto won 91% of the vote in Mbeere North. In the recent by-election, the UDA candidate managed only about 45%
In 2022, Ruto won 76% of the vote in Ol Kalou. In the recent by-election, the UDA candidate couldn’t even reach 17%.
In absolute numbers-which ultimately matter-UDA has been losing ground.
Where will they get the man power to deploy countrywide? Kama maandamano pekee Gen Z waliwalemea na sasa wakenya wakiamua kutokea kila mahali? We can’t be intimidated with a few hundred people with guns.
Ol Kalou peeps have said what we always say here: development of infrastructure (roads, water, electricity etc) is not a favor to you; it's a RIGHT and no politician should come and lie to you otherwise.
@thechelanga Wakili, the Mountain is one and solid. The False dichotomy of Mt Kenya East and Mt. Kenya West was invented by political elites from Kiambu while milking the cow.
The Ol Kalou by election has delivered a clear message. Sovereign power belongs to the people.
No amount of intimidation, patronage, or abuse of State power can defeat citizens who choose to defend their vote and their Constitution.
Congratulations to MP-Elect Samuel Douglas Kamau Waweru on your victory. This is a win for democracy and a reminder that Article 1 of the Constitution is not just words. All SOVEREIGN POWER belongs to the PEOPLE.
The whole country now knows that Ruto has a private militia drawn from different police units. These are the masked men who have been shooting at protesters, abducting people, and who were yesterday shooting at Ol Kalao residents and even uniformed police officers.
We must unmask these men and women. Deny them services, refuse to rent them houses, and send them back to live with their master Ruto at State House.
Murkomen should stop pretending he doesn’t know who those criminals driving big cars and carrying weapons are. They receive instructions from Ruto and himself. 58 million Kenyans will not accept being terrorized by a few rogue police officers carrying out illegal orders. When they drive into our towns, we shall cut down trees like they did in Ol Kalao and lock them in. We shall then proceed to effect a citizen’s arrest.
Kenya Police Boss Douglas Kanja, his counterpart at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, and National Intelligence Service boss Noordin Haji have allowed Ruto to use the police like tissue paper, doing dirty work. In a year’s time, Ruto and everyone carrying out illegal orders will be held accountable.
Ol Kalao has taught us how to organize and counter goons and Ruto’s private militia. We shall barricade our towns and villages. Any armed stranger dressed in civilian clothes who enters our communities to cause violence even if carrying only a stick we shall deal with firmly.
Let the government know this: we shall only obey orders from uniformed and clearly identifiable officers. We shall carry out citizen’s arrests on goons and Ruto’s private militia!
Lessons from Ol Kalao will be applied forthwith. Dawa ya Ruto ni Ol-Kalao!
Hats off to the people of Ol Kalou. Everything was thrown at you; bribery, violence, intimidation, state power, but you stood firm. Congratulations to Sammy Kamau and the entire DCP team for that resounding victory.
I've always said that Mt. Kenya will for a long time, determine who becomes president. The region is vote-rich, and it has traditionally voted as a bloc. The entire Luo Nyanza vote is outweighed by Kiambu County alone, which accounts for barely 20% of the Mt. Kenya vote. Ruto needs the Kikuyu vote more than the Luo vote. Numbers don't lie... I think He's smart enough not to believe that he'll get even half of what Raila got in Luo Nyanza.
This was meant to be a routine, obscure by-election.
Ruto has shown his hand, and Ol Kalou people have given us the blueprint in the full glare of national media.
2027 will be okay♥️
There's a cabal who likes threatening people with violence if their candidate doesn't win yet they were properly whipped in 2007! Wanajifanya warriors yet they buried more people than their imaginary enemy! Your enemies are politicians, not your neighbours!
I have been scrolling on Tiktok after the UDA loss in Ol Kalouand I didnt know so many people hate Ruto that much. He should be a worried man that 2027 wont be as easy as he thinks
What has been very loud yesterday in Ol Kalou is that voting ends in the polling station. So guarding the vote is the most important exercise. Mambo ya kupigana bomas is pointless
