@ElieJarrougeMD @nmlinguaphile 70 years, 6-2, 190. On no meds. Total Chol: 195, HDL 67, trigs 61, LDL 110, CAC 0, fasting insulin 3, A1c 4.8. Lift M-W-F. Bench press 3 x 8 at 225, squats 3x6 at 315, pull ups 3X 12 dead hang, 3x4 w/ 45Lb plate.

Doctor: LDL a little high statin might help.

@BioLayne @nmlinguaphile Different things work for different people. Keto, primarily meat, worked for me because satiety made it easy without counting calories. I have friends that couldn’t stay keto. They have to track calories. Do what works for you.

At 60 I weighed 310, was on blood pressure meds, statin, sulfonylurea and metformin. I was told that I needed to start insulin. I walked with a cane due to back pain & needed surgery. I turned 70 Wednesday. I’m on no meds & don’t need surgery . Diet & exercise are miraculous.

@Strong_Old_Men I was on 6 meds, lost 110 pounds in a year and stopped all meds at 6 months. At my next annual, he looked at me, looked at my 100% normal and better labs and said “that’s absolutely amazing, how did you do it.” I said “keto.” He said “oh no that will kill you.”

I was in the last class at the California Regional Justice Training Academy (1979) that had a required swim test. Why? Because somebody sued claiming that the requirement disqualified too many blacks. It’s been going on for some time now.
