My dear dear friend Ihar Losik is finally free. His imprisonment in Belarus was full of horrors. Even while forcibly exiled into Lithuania, Lukashenka’s regime transported him with a bag on his head. Today, Ihar is sad that he can’t reunite with his family — they’re in Belarus.

Belarusians are still being punished for the 2020 protests. Hanna Papai, a mother of three, was sentenced to 2.5 years for “calls against national security,” “inciting hatred,” and “violating public order.” She was also added to the regime’s list of “terrorists” and “extremists”.

Belarusians repressed for supporting Ukraine:

👉 1,671 detained in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion
👉 Over 220 were imprisoned, incl. for sabotage against the Russian military
👉At least 30 sentenced just for intending to join the Ukrainian army
👉Over 41 sentenced for donating to Belarusian volunteers
👉Over 70 Belarusians killed defending Ukraine

Siarhei Tsikhanouski was taken by Lukashenka's regime exactly 5 years ago during a rally for @Tsihanouskaya in Belarus.

Serving an unimaginable 19.5-year sentence, he has been held completely incommunicado for over 2 years. We don’t know his condition – or even if he’s alive.

Yet more devastating news: former political prisoner Tamara Karavai has passed away shortly after her release. She was sentenced to 2 years for a social media like. The regime quietly destroyed her behind bars—like so many others. My deepest condolences to her family, loved ones.

We've just learned that former political prisoner Hanna Kandratsenka died earlier this year at only 39. Despite being diagnosed with cervical cancer behind bars, she was denied compassion and forced to serve her full sentence.

This cruelty and injustice must end.

66 y.o. schoolteacher Viktar Kukharchuk, from a village in southern Belarus, was convicted of “inciting hatred” – for speaking out on Telegram against Russia’s war in Ukraine. The regime has now added him to the KGB’s “terrorist list”, and his sentence remains unknown.

Lukashenka's regime is escalating pressure on exiled independent journalists through a new wave of targeting their families in Belarus, @baj_by reports. Security forces search their homes and pressure relatives, while many journalists face criminal charges and trials in absentia.

On #WorldHealthDay, a reminder: 203 political prisoners in Belarus are held behind bars in high-risk conditions. Lukashenka’s regime subjects them to inhumane treatment – among them: people with serious health issues, victims of forced psychiatric care, parents of large families.
