@nielsonTSN1260 Check out the movie Waydowntown which is centered around a bet among office workers to see who can go the longest without leaving Calgary's Plus 15 walkway system.
My latest condo Q&A article: Changes to condo laws will cost condo owners, and the dispute resolution tribunal duplicates an already effective system that could be used instead. Enjoy! - https://t.co/T3qRhDPis5
Bill 30's changes to condo governance in Alberta may create more issues than solutions. Filing bylaws & board changes with Corporate Registry adds red tape, costs, & delays for condo owners. Potential legal ambiguity looms. #Condos#ABLeg
@PAWarchuk@SCC_eng@CSC_fra I teach Land Titles at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law, to second- and third-year law students. One of the cases I still frequently reference is C.P.R. v. Turta, [1954] SCR 427 — a testament to its enduring status as good law!
@gerardjkennedy “There is no such thing as legislative intention”. Glamorgan Landing Estates GP Inc. v. City of Calgary, 2024 ABCA 150, ¶ 133 per Wakeling, J.A. Even the majority who vote for legislation do not have any common intention…the intention of the legislature is a myth.
@laurby In the mid 90s, the High Level Bridge was closed for a couple of years for rehabilitation work. The old Walterdale Bridge was altered to two-way traffic. It has been done before. But the difference today is that Edmonton has more people/vehicles than it did in the early 90s.
@RJSCity And the City of Edmonton believes that the district plans will enable everyone to do day to day shopping, for example, within 15 minutes of their home.
@RJSCity The district plans are a recipe for failure. We cannot even fill empty office and retail space in downtown, the Quarters and the list goes on.
