Where did the screw worm come from??
Argentina, that's where. Trumps beef import plan brought in a whole load of Argentinian beef.
And, yes, he WAS warned about it. His response? shut down the agency. It doesn't exist it they can't report on it...

So James Talarico had multiple normal, consensual relationships with attractive women who worked in politics?
Meanwhile Ken Paxton had multiple affairs with women outside his marriage and used his office to get jobs/contracts for them.
This race is in a completely different ballpark from 2018.
O’Rourke led in just two polls total, while Talarico has been leading in multiple polls every month since the start of the year.
And Talarico holding a net +27 favorability advantage over Paxton is nothing to scoff at.
OBSESSION is back at the #1 spot in America, surpassing SCARY MOVIE this Monday.
This is unprecedented, this century, for a movie heading into its fifth week in peak summer (June/July).
Wait. For. It. NASA animation shows Global temperatures warm slowly at first, then rapidly. Warming is accelerating! Here’s the truth. It’s real. It’s us. And we have to come to terms with it, and deal with reality, rather than deceiving ourselves, and hoping it goes away. It won’t… without intervention. #climate #globalwarming #science #climatechange
I'm finally reading Dune. This quote, which is in the first few pages, hits hard:
"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."
After almost 3 years @HoustonChron, I've published my last story today.
Here is the most detailed look yet at where large data centers flooding to Texas want to hook up to the state's power grid, based on exclusive ERCOT data. 🧵 https://t.co/FddmUqOR4t
BREAKING: Ken Paxton’s own lawyer just endorsed James Talarico:
“I defended Ken Paxton for years in the impeachment trial and in state criminal cases. But in my view, I think Ken has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas.
And unlike Ken, I believe that you, James, believe in unity over division and that you know how to assemble not only Democrats but Independents and Republicans and we need that right now.
We need unity, we don't need any more division and that's why I'm supporting you.”

“Right now, CBS News is on fire”
Scott Pelley: “We need adult supervision and at the moment we don’t have it. We have people who’ve been installed in these jobs who through no fault of their own have no experience in television. It’s not their fault, but they don’t know what they’re doing. There’s a subtle political bias that I’ve never seen at 60 Minutes or CBS News before. That is my hope, a return to sanity. A return to honor, a return to courage. We used to have all of those things in abundance and now we don’t. We can save this. It’s possible to land this plane. But right now, CBS News, in my view, is on fire”
This is a devastating interview.
Scott Pelley tells the NYT that Bari Weiss directly put a “thumb on the scale” for Trump over the killing of Renee Good.
Here’s his explanation of exactly what happened.
This is the type of crisis that a Democratic president would be held personally responsible for by the media. Instead it’s getting virtually no national attention despite the issue being directly connected to federal cuts enacted by the Trump administration
This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

Inde Navarrette learned last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live that OBSESSION is the first non-holiday wide release to grow on its 2nd and 3rd weekends since E.T. (1982).
- “Hey, Spielberg!”
In its fourth weekend, Obsession will finally fall -- but just 9 percent, with a projected $24.8M weekend. That's still a bigger gross than weekends 1 and 2. Backrooms expected to drop 69 percent, but that's after doing strong business during the week
