Farage’s “mass deportation” plan is a logistical fairy tale. Here’s why it collapses the second you look at the facts:

•Arrests → The Met has 34,000 officers & can’t keep up with London crime. To arrest & process 50k+ asylum seekers a year, you’d need a new police force bigger than the Met. Doesn’t exist.

•Detention camps → He wants to shove thousands onto “disused military bases.” The MOD already struggles to house its own troops. Most of these sites are unsafe, derelict or toxic with asbestos. Instant legal challenges.

•Flights → “5 flights a day” is fantasy. The RAF has one Voyager configured for passengers. Even if it flew full every day (300 seats), that’s 1,500 deportations daily. At 52,000 asylum claims last year, you’d need 35 straight weeks of full flights. Unrealistic.

•Return deals → Countries like Afghanistan & Eritrea won’t take people back. You can’t deport to countries that refuse. That’s why Rwanda collapsed. Unless Farage plans to parachute people in at night, this is dead on arrival.

•Overseas territories → Ascension Island is 4,000 miles away with no real infrastructure. It costs millions to fly a handful of staff there, never mind tens of thousands of detainees. Pure fantasy.

•New offences → Making “trying to return” a crime means nothing if you can’t enforce borders. We can’t even stop drugs or weapons coming in — does Farage think migrants arrive with loyalty cards at Border Force desks?

•Cost → He claims £10bn over 5 years. The Met costs £20bn over the same period & still can’t do the basics. Legal challenges alone would eat billions. His budget wouldn’t cover the handcuffs, never mind the flights.

Bottom line: this isn’t a plan. It’s a grift. A theatre script for TV hits, designed to rile people up while offering zero workable solutions.
