Observations, commentary, and analysis on sports. My wife told me to tweet it to others instead of talking her ear off.

I understand was NBC is trying to do with the blended broadcast booths, but I don’t think it’s landing.

Idea for future WC series. Have both team’s regular booths call the game, provide the option on Peacock and determine the NBC feed geographically. That has to be possible.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

Had to have the Chris Sale game. Huge win.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

Absolutely love that for Austin Riley, let’s go!!!

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

@KyleBrandt was right, Falcons in primetime wasn’t even competitive #oops

Tell him about it @JamieErdahl

@gmfb

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

@BigDayESPN functioning today as @gmfb Throw Back: East Coast and I’m here for it.

Penix is back and Green Bay is very banged up. I find myself feeling optimistic about Thursday night. It feels like the random good game set up that feels meaningless when it all falls apart later.

There should really be a helpline number or resources for Falcons fan delusions.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

Why does every bad coach the Falcons hire insist on jet sweeps when you have a generational talent in the backfield.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

All this Tua this, Penix that, and we’re gonna get a week 1 Cooper Rush game. Being a Falcons fan is not for the faint of heart.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

Not sure where that second came from for Michigan. No one outside of Ann Arbor wanted that to happen.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

@FalcoholicKevin Couldn’t they have made those short term IR decisions before setting the 53? Like Hand or potentially Bowman?

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

What an incredible moment for Kim, who’s absolutely been through it this year. Good for him.

Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate QB matchup in early August lived up to the hype. Welcome back football @GTFootball

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

Other than Bijan, hard to imagine a bigger loss. And it’s only August 4th. Brutal.

[Ian Rapoport @RapSheet]

#Falcons promising edge Jalon Walker is feared to have torn his ACL, per me and @wyche89, a potential brutal injury for this defense.

Walker will have an MRI to confirm the injury from practice today, which drew an emotional reaction from his team.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

Start making alternative plans for next summer. I don’t think we’re going to have baseball.

[Jeff Passan @JeffPassan]

The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring Tarik Skubal for outfielder Zyhir Hope, right-hander River Ryan and right-hander Brady Smith, sources tell ESPN.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

So the injury-prone QB room is already completely hurt on day 1. Weird.

Maybe I’ll just skip the optimism stage this season. Seems easier that way.

[Lake County Captains @LCCaptains]

Walton is headed to Akron! 🦆

OF Aaron Walton has been promoted to the Double-A Akron RubberDucks! 🙌

@MLBPipeline’s No. 16 Guardians prospect leads the Midwest League with 38 XBH and 152 TB. 🤯

Good luck, Aaron! 🫡

@CJNitkowski @BrandonGaudin I know y’all have zero to do with this, just a little Friday morning venting for us wishing y’all were on the call for the holiday.

[Rob Rowland @Robservations_]

A lovely Happy 4th from @MLBONFOX to us folks in Middle TN. Despite being in the @Braves market, they’ve gifted us Chi/Stl tomorrow night instead.

Happens too often. Don’t take the game as a “national broadcast” if you can’t even give it to the full local market.
