History: the Browns are waiving tight end Dae’Quan Wright and, if he clears waivers, he has an agreement in place for the 2026 season to play for LSU, per agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln.

Wright is believed to be the first player who could play for an NFL team, and then go back to play in college.

Some ADs are acting like they’re the saviors of their departments. They put out the fires they started (or failed to protect from starting) and act like conquering heroes.

College athletics is transforming, and somehow still needs radical change.

Change starts with stronger leadership; some ADs/Commissioners will say they want alignment, but then are the first to forget that when they’re called to the table to find common ground.

This cycle will continue to happen until there is a break. We’re letting egos get in the way of finding common ground, and in the end, everyone is worse off for it.

The fans continue to get the short end of all of this. They probably can’t name 5 players on their rosters, and they’re feeling the impact of cost cutting across the board.

We can only hope the passion for college athletics doesn’t severely decrease. We’re told that metrics are up and it’s as popular as it’s ever been.

We’re not sure we’re buying that. Ask any fan and they’re not thrilled with the common state — and actually are much more confused than ever.
