@OhhBooh@CoreyTulaba Yeah, strange deal that seemingly puts teams both at odds with their own fanbases AND the league at the same time -- while they dance around explaining the reasons publicly.
@SamQuinnCBS It looks like a late 1990s cartoon. No thanks. The colors are childish, the logo looks like it was created by a teenager. Everything about it is terrible. No. No. NO.
@OhhBooh@CoreyTulaba They were only allowed to do this for the one anniversary year because of the way 'Hardwood Classics' licensing works with the NBA's central licensing company.
Teams don't own the licensing rights to their own throwback logos in the NBA.

The GM acts as the mission architect, designing the blueprint and collecting player "components" based on a central philosophy. The coach is then hired as the pilot to execute that exact vision, harnessing the vehicle's design to navigate toward the intended destination.

Seems a bit ironic to make an ASTRONAUT the logo when the 'Rockets' team name refers to the actual VEHICLES. Given the PLAYERS ARE the ROCKETS, the logo focuses on the CONTROLLERS rather than the driving force -- making it appear misaligned.
