For home learning last week, children chose a vegetable to draw and describe using adjectives. They then challenged themselves to write a sentence. Impressive! This will support our innovated writing this week.
An exciting opportunity for our children this morning joining the engineering story-time session. The children were so engaged listening to the story and had lots of questions to ask about the bridge afterwards. This sparked great discussions! @rockinghamrh3#STEM@STEMlearninguk
Science club week 4! Exploring pepper and watching what happens when we add soap to our finger and it disperses. We also added water to our skittles and watched the colours mix together to make what J described as ’oil splashes on the ground.”

Science club week 2 - friction! We explored friction with balloons on our hair, picking up small pieces of tissue paper and using a ruler to move a can without touching it. What a fun time we have had experimenting! “It makes my hair stand up straight’ JL

Science club week 1! Exploring a range of materials and how durable they are when heat is applied to them. First, we made predictions and then tested each material. We recognise that clay is stronger than wooden bricks and paper bowls! #RockinghamScience@rockinghamrh3
This week, we have been discussing heavy and light objects. What better way to extend this than to create human scales. Using vocabulary light, heavy and balanced as we explore a range of objects in the bags! #rockinghammaths
Exciting additions to the message centre - secret agent pens! Unlocked by covering the white board in symbols. Writing with the new pens is only discovered by the flashlight! We have had superhero powers, spells and magic phone numbers this week! What will be next? @canIgoandplay
For our problem solving day on Monday, we selected two objects from a covered box and determined whether they were heavy or light. We sorted them into two hoops. ”The Lego is not heavy but it is heavier than a feather.” #rockinghammaths
A tray of slime inspiring curiosity, using senses and describing texture. Look at the joy in the children’s faces as they transport the slime. Promoting problem solving, trial and error and expanding on mathematical vocabulary such as heavy and light/more and less. CL
Thank you @candta1 for your visit yesterday to EYFS. We really enjoyed listening to your story Ruby with your props. This helps to reaffirm our PSHE curriculum where we are focusing on our differences and that it we should feel proud that we are different.
Our first local trip to the church following our R.E topic this term. It was great to listen to Reverend Ian talk about the different features of the church and for us to have the chance to ask him some questions. Well done EYFS. #RockinghamRE
After reading ’The Gruffalo’s Child’ we explored torches and shadow puppets to create and retell stories. This sparked so much enjoyment and fascination whilst discussing how to make the characters appear smaller and larger.
This term we have been learning about space in science. After looking at constellations, we were able to use the telescope. “It helps us look at things that are far away.” “Telescopes help you to see the real stars.” #rockinghamscience
Wearing inside out for mental health awareness because it’s what’s on the inside that counts! This has sparked some lovely discussions about why it’s what’s on the inside that counts and not what we look like on the outside. 😊 #childrensmentalhealthweek2022
TY also initiated sorting the dinosaurs into a Venn diagram using the hula hoops. We discussed the dinosaurs and their features and whether we thought they would eat plants, meat or both. #rockinghamhistory
Creating dinosaur poo and deciding whether it came from a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore depending on what was inside! We discussed herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat meat and omnivores each both. The vocab used this afternoon was impressive! 🦕 #rockinghamhistory
