PhD student at the Uni of Birmingham focusing on sexual violence. MSc in health policy from Uni of Edinburgh and MSPH in international health from JHSPH.
After much debate about at what point along my PhD journey I could start referring to myself as Dr. Rockowitz (after my viva, after submitting corrections, etc.), I now know for certain that the title fits! Winnie, as always, was not impressed.
Thank you so much! Huge thanks to @AMLabUoB for being so supportive these last few years, none of these accomplishments would've been possible without you! And of course a million thanks to @hflowe and @jones_bradbury for getting me over the finish line in the end!
Congrats to Dr @RockowitzSarah on her PhD award. Sarah was a Global Challenges Interdisciplinary PhD student,Β she published 12 papers during her PhD, won the UoB 3 min thesis competition, and received the ATSA Graduate Student Paper Award. We are so proud of you Sarah!
Have you cast your vote for the U21 3MT People's Choice Award? 19 talented researchers from across our global network have explained their work in just 3 minutes in our global showcase. Watch the videos and vote here: https://t.co/G73U5fHF4e
Congratulations to @hflowe, @KohlAmelia, @melissacolloff, @BennettTia_, @Stevens_Laura7, @harrietsmith15, @t_staudigl, Marlene Meyer & Edward Hirata for winning the C. Edward Shaffer Award for Best Research Presentation at the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology 2023!
PhD Students @Stevens_Laura7 and @BennettTia_ presented research reviewing tech that allows #GBV survivors to report their experiences at @crest_research#BASS23. We found GBVxTech does incorporate some interview standards (e.g., open q) but lacks appropriate security measures!
Come visit me and @KirstinMWagner at this incredible event! Weβre the first stop in the murder investigation and are so excited to see who cracks the case! @LES_UniBham@AMLabUoB
Would you make a good forensic investigator? This is your chance to find out!
Join us at the Ri just after a murder most foul has taken place: can you gather evidence to prove whodunnit beyond reasonable doubt? https://t.co/ZgMpwENctd
Last November we visited Seoul with the @UK_KOWitness Network to discuss all things eyewitness memory! Read more about the research visit here - https://t.co/MFIoApU0we
We are really excited to host the Network at @unibirmingham next week!
1/We collaborated with trainers at @LimeCulture to train academics working with vulnerable populations to respond appropriately and effectively and to mitigate any adverse impact on the individuals themselves, the research processes, and potential criminal justice process.
@WYP_VIPER, who help to facilitate identification parades in the UK, are visiting @unibirmingham today to host a volunteer recording session in their identification booth in the Main Library π·
Wooo @BennettTia_! Although our research areas couldn't be more different we get on like a house on fire. Also I second the shout out to that Odeon limitless card which I have taken advantage of many a time
Meet the Team!
@BennettTia_ is a 2nd year PhD Student researching filler similarity within lineups using innovative methods of measuring similarity. She is a pleasure to have within the lab and today is her Birthday! Happy Birthday Tia!

Really pleased to see this integral work published analysing the valuable data collected by our partner @WanguKanjaF. Congratulations on getting another thesis chapter out there @RockowitzSarah!
NEW PAPER ALERT!
1/ @RockowitzSarah, @hflowe, @Stevens_Laura7, @melissacolloff and @Jcrockey have conducted a secondary data analysis with @WanguKanjaF to see case attrition over a 4 year period based on crime type, either domestic or sexual violence.

Now time for a shameless plug: if you've made it this far through my tweets, & watched my 3MT video, please vote for me for people's choice! Taking part in the 3MT has been a great way to amplify this work, & I'd love for even more people to hear about it. https://t.co/QlCxJDYlTG
Behold! The unlikely (to me who is a qual gal through and through) hero of my thesis, & what I think is my most valuable research from this project so far, has been published! We looked at attrition along the case referral pathway for SV/DV cases in Kenya https://t.co/jVAsiH9gJ0
As always, this research would not have been possible without my amazing co-authors and fellow researchers, @hflowe, @melissacolloff, @Stevens_Laura7, @WanguKanjaF and of course @Jcrockey, who made statistics the least scary it's ever been
