Meet Dr. Jeremy Tilstra , Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh.
With the support of ANRF, Dr. Tilstra is exploring how kidney tissue responds to inflammation in lupus nephritis—a severe complication of lupus that affects nearly half of all patients. His work looks beyond immune cells to the kidneys themselves, uncovering how these organs may adapt or even defend against immune attack.
By understanding this organ-level response, Dr. Tilstra hopes to identify new, more targeted ways to protect the kidneys and improve treatments for people living with lupus.
