4 years ago today, I was about to do something that, unbeknownst to me, would dramatically alter the trajectory of my life. I wrote a mea culpa, to renounce my support for Trump; my governor, Ron DeSantis; and the MAGA movement. With my hand on the mouse, and the arrow hovering the "publish" button, I felt, simultaneously, dread and exhilaration. In that moment, I harkened back to my time as a volunteer on the 2016 and 2020 campaigns; all the MAGA and KAG hats I owned; my aspirations as a MAGA pundit; how I had referred to Democrats as malignant communists and socialists, worse than the Nazis; my myriad hours consuming MAGA media; and my talks at Trump groups I sponsored and supported.
Most of all, I thought about my second family and my community in MAGA, and all the accompanying belonging, camaraderie, kinships and gatherings.
Months prior, on the day of the Uvalde, TX, school shooting, I had quietly left MAGA. But something continued to gnaw at me; I had always been unapologetically public in my support for Trump and MAGA, and I thought I needed to reciprocate that by publicly repudiating the lies, falsehoods, conspiracy theories and extremism of MAGA politics.
I pressed the "publish" button, not for attention, but for reasons of catharsis---to unequivocally turn the final page of the MAGA chapter of my life. I never thought that anyone would care; it turned out, however, that people did care. I received one desperate message after another from those with friends and family in MAGA, asking how they could extract their MAGA-identified close ones from the movement. Although I wasn't quite sure what, it was then that I knew I was on to something. Borne from this was Leaving MAGA.
Today is my Leaving MAGA-versary. For those of you in MAGA having doubts, for those of you who have left, and for those of you with friends and loved ones in MAGA, know that you are not alone. You have a new home and community with us here at Leaving MAGA.
When I left MAGA, I reclaimed my individuality, my agency and my empathy; leaving MAGA was good for my soul, my psyche and my mental health. I became a born-again human being.
The same awaits those who leave. Every day is a stellar day to leave MAGA.
Imagine waking up on a freezing Michigan morning with no power—not because of a storm, but because Canada cut the electricity during a trade war started by our own president.
This is where Trump’s treatment of our allies has brought us.
We spent generations building the closest economic and security partnership in the world. Trump is dismantling that trust in real time—and the damage may last long after he’s gone. (Link in reply)
Doug Ford: "Jobs number went down in the US last month while Ontario gained 52,000 jobs, more than the entire US combined ... I feel terrible for the people in the US"
Oh, so this is what happened. Argentina has toxic beef that it can't sell. Someone made a call to Trump, offered to cut him in on the action, suddenly 660 million pounds of inedible meat-like substance is about to flood the U.S. market. Just follow the money, it tells the story.
Trump is an absolute complete dumbass.
Fighting canada in a trade war is what he's doing because he's a small man who can't defeat real enemies like Iran so he picks on friends.
Little bitch
Doug Ford: "I don't respond to a dictator like President Trump, a bully like President Trump ... I'm not gonna take any advice off a guy that's the king of bankruptcies ... your own people, President Trump, don't even like you. And they're gonna speak loud and clear in the midterms. If I was allowed to, I'd be down there door-knocking."
Absolutely shameful comments from @SecDuffy. He has never served a day. The Canadians have been allies and sent their troops to Afghanistan to fight and die by our sides. While Sean Duffy was getting drunk on reality TV Canadian service members were in the fight with us. He owes them an apology but he’s too arrogant to ever feel shame.
It’s official: Ontario’s new advertising campaign in the U.S. has launched.
Using every tool we have, we’ll never stop making the case against American tariffs on Canada. The way to prosperity is by working together.

Marco Rubio: "For years to come, there are many people on the right...that are going to be having to explain and justify how they fell into this trap of supporting Donald Trump because this is not going to end well.” (2016)
Team Canada needs to stand together more united than ever before.
The prime minister has my full support for a strong response—tariff for tariff, dollar for dollar. As we fight to protect Canadian sovereignty and economic security, everything needs to be on the table. Ontario is ready to do its part.
“Canada since Mark Carney became Prime Minister in March, 2025, has outperformed everyone in America, the Eurozone and anywhere else in the world.” - Bloomberg Editor-In Chief, Matt Winkler
We’re beyond grateful to our friends and partners in Mexico for sending hundreds of firefighters to B.C.
They’re joining a team of roughly 2,000 wildfire service personnel who are working tirelessly to get these fires under control.
