Liberty folks! Follow @terMaatMike who is running for Florida's 20th congressional district! We want him to be an elected Libertarian! ter Maat for Congress!
Officially, Brazil blocked X because it no longer had "legal representation" in Brazil.
On leaving X, President Lula encouraged people to follow him at Bluesky.
But Bluesky also has no legal representation in Brazil.
Dictatorships are totalitarian and incompetent.
For example, Moraes' August 8 order to X is in direct violation of Brazilian law. See the comparison for yourself 👇
------------------------
Por exemplo, a or dm de Moraes para a X do dia 8 de Agosto esta em violação frontal da lei brasileira👇
I used to think - because I was taught - that a main role of journalists is to defend free speech and free press. I was long ago disabused of that.
Still, watching much of Brazil's corporate media cheer a ban of X - because they'd regain a monopoly on discourse - is disgusting.
Soon, we expect Judge Alexandre de Moraes will order X to be shut down in Brazil – simply because we would not comply with his illegal orders to censor his political opponents. These enemies include a duly elected Senator and a 16-year-old girl, among others.
When we attempted to defend ourselves in court, Judge de Moraes threatened our Brazilian legal representative with imprisonment. Even after she resigned, he froze all of her bank accounts. Our challenges against his manifestly illegal actions were either dismissed or ignored. Judge de Moraes’ colleagues on the Supreme Court are either unwilling or unable to stand up to him.
We are absolutely not insisting that other countries have the same free speech laws as the United States. The fundamental issue at stake here is that Judge de Moraes demands we break Brazil’s own laws. We simply won’t do that.
In the days to come, we will publish all of Judge de Moraes’ illegal demands and all related court filings in the interest of transparency.
Unlike other social media and technology platforms, we will not comply in secret with illegal orders.
To our users in Brazil and around the world, X remains committed to protecting your freedom of speech.
-------------------
In Brazil, we do not have X anymore since midnight.
I am tweeting this with VPN.
This tweet may cost me almost 10,000 USD according to the decision of tyrant @alexandre de Moraes, friends with @LulaOficial : every Brazilian that post on X from now on will be fined R$ 50,000 according to his illegal "ruling".
My dignity is worth much more than that. Actually, it is priceless. I will keep tweeting regardless of State persecution or threats because I believe in freedom of expression, democracy and real Justice.
Brazilians will take to the streets. On the 7th of September we will make our voices heard very clearly. We will demand Moraes to be impeached by the Senate and to be sent to jail after a fair trial - which Moraes cruelly and unconstitutionally gives not to the people that he persecutes.
Thank you @elonmusk for standing with us. Your attitudes against censorship and authoritarianism are giving us hope and strengthening our cause for freedom in Brazil!
1. Brazil gets a new Socialist leader.
2. They demand that people get censored for "misinformation"
3. X refuses to censor.
4. Brazil bans X.
5. People using VPN to use X will be fined $8900 PER day.
There is a lesson to be learned here.
Communist tyranny is never far away.
Homeschooling has been illegal in Germany since the Nazis banned it in 1938.
They passed the Reichsschulpflichtgesetz (Law on Compulsory Education in the German Reich). No exceptions are allowed by Germany “for pedagogical or religious reasons.”
11 years ago, 33 armed cops showed up with a battering ram to enter the Wunderlich family's home in Germany for the crime of homeschooling. Officers had a court order to remove their children from the home.
The Wunderlichs were not permitted to speak to their crying children before they were carried away, nor were they told where the children would be relocated. The children were later returned, ordered by the state to attend government school.
It was the school system that contested the Wunderlich’s court battle to homeschool their children. One official—despite never having visited the family’s home nor speaking with the children—argued to the court that the kids were in danger:
He wrote: “I am certainly of the opinion that there is a danger to the children, because they are systematically withdrawn from all social aspects of society and live in a so-called parallel society.”
After several years of court battles to defend their right to educate their children, the Wunderlichs lost. The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the family had not “provided sufficient evidence that the children were properly educated and socialized.”
Kind of awkward for Germany to still be enforcing a Nazi law designed to allow the state to be solely responsible for educating (ahem… brainwashing) the youth.

Some bizarre editorializing on economic systems from the @nytimes coverage of the Venezuelan election.
"If the election decision holds and Mr. Maduro remains in power, he will carry Chavismo, the country’s socialist-inspired movement, into its third decade in Venezuela. Founded by former President Hugo Chávez, Mr. Maduro’s mentor, the movement initially promised to lift millions out of poverty.
For a time it did. But in recent years, the socialist model has given way to brutal capitalism, economists say, with a small state-connected minority controlling much of the nation’s wealth."

you can always tell who was actually poor and who's just an Ivy League shitlib LARPing because the latter romanticizes aspects of poverty that real poor people desperately want to escape.
when they think "noisy neighborhood," their mind conjures up some abuela playing tropipop out her breezy open window while she makes empanadas as a table of Chinese men laugh and play Mahjong on the street -- literal Hollywood movie shit.
in reality, the noise of poverty is the woman next door screaming while she's getting beaten up by her drunk boyfriend, a schizo man shouting obscenities outside of your apartment window, and the blaring siren of ambulances coming to collect yet another overdose.
Alternate headline: “Shielded from Chinese competition by high tariffs, GM blows money that could have gone to investment in EVs on financial gamesmanship”
Hillary Clinton, The DNC & The FBI All Committed Felonies & Treason. The Evidence Is Documented & Publicly Available
“So according to Alvin Bragg, influencing the outcome of an election through illegal means is a felony. So lets go through all the future felony indictments:
- Hillary Clinton and the DNC, the dossier. According to the Federal Election Commission, they violated federal campaign laws. They were fined $1,000,000, but yet no indictment.
The same Federal Election Commission found that Donald Trump violated no election laws but yet he was indicted. They did the dossier in order to influence the outcome of an election
The FBI then took that unverified document. According to the Durham report, the FBI knew it was unverified all the way back in 2016-2017, but submitted it as a verified document to a FISA court in order to get a warrant, which is a felony, in order to spy on Donald Trump to influence the outcome of an election.
They then took that same warrant and used it to spy on a sitting president, which is treasonous, and then tried to use that unverified document that was illegally used to try and influence the outcome of an election to unseat a duly elected president, which is treason.
What about the FBI working with social media companies to suppress your free speech rights as ruled on by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals? By suppressing information like the laptop, which the FBI confirmed and verified in March of 2020 was real, but said it was Russia disinformation in order to influence the outcome of an election.
The same can be said about the diary in which we were illegally told that it was fake and Russia disinformation when it turns out to be real in order to influence the outcome of an election. What about the 51 intelligence officers who said that the laptop was fake and that it was Russian disinformation knowing that it was real in order to influence the outcome of an election and today still stand by it and said they did it for patriotic reasons.
When are all of these future indictments going to happen?
Because in every one of those cases, you had a violation of the law that was used to try to influence the outcome of an election. In the Donald Trump case, you were never told in the indictment what the underlying crime was in order to influence the outcome of an election, and you still to this day don't know what he was convicted of as far as an underlying crime that was meant to influence the outcome of an election. I'll wait for all your excuses.”
