@CallumZTaylor League cricket is for recreational players to enjoy the game. It has never pretended to be a nursery for pro cricket- nor should it. And nor does it elsewhere.
That pro players play league cricket should not blind us to these facts.
@MarkFrostsport@RobinVarls One of the best. Cricket in Aberystwyth, Wales and everywhere else is the better for his involvement. We are lucky that he fell in love with our game.
@AlexMLowe@sjamesjourno Except, to my surprise, it was enjoyable tribute to the game and its traditions, and of course to some of its iconic servants. Perhaps what’s good about the game and not such a mess.
Had privilege of watching seven different sides in RWC 2023.
Most engaging fans, Portugal. Most humorous (in adversity), Australia. Most engaged with their team, South Africa. Most boorish, England. Perhaps I was unlucky with allocated seat.
@stephenjones9@swbale951 Well and happy! And thinking of language, have vivid, frightening memory of first high ball in first match in France and wondering “ what the f**** the French for”Mark”?
@swbale951@stephenjones9 Agreed. But great effort by Georgian ref in great Ospreys effort.
Love thought behind shirt even if it might not match my M&S comfort fit denims.
@stephenjones9@swbale951 The principle behind your shock is sound but takes no account of the (equal?) importance of Italian, Spanish, Afrikaans, Georgian, etc etc….and never mind Welsh!!
Only answer is to create a rugby vocabulary that could be the game’s Esperanto. French don’t need special treatment.
@Dickiecloggs1@stephenjones9 Perhaps more nuanced than might be apparent.
Welsh voters like transparency and maybe the full intention behind the resolution was a bit obscure. If you want support, give us the full story.
