No bigger blessing than seeing your parents age gracefully. I joined my Dad Mzee Daudi Bangirana as he celebrated his 82nd birthday today at our family home in Bitereko, Mitooma. We give thanks to the Lord for this gift as a family. Happy birthday Mzee 🙏🙏
In my first 6 months in office, I have been most impressed by the dedication and sacrifice of our @WFP staff, working on the very frontlines of hunger and in some of the most unforgiving places in the world.
As needs soar, we are ready to rise to the challenge together.
I hate #indiscipline in boys. I can’t even tolerate it any minute. When a parent calls my office mbu they’re stuck with an indisciplined boy, I act so fast.
The other day, a parent called me at around 8pm. She was in deep tears 😭. It sounded like she was crying from her bedroom and guess what was the problem. She’d just been fighting with her 17 yr old son.
It started when the boy had been suspended from school for stealing Shs 270k from other students and breaking their suitcases. Cameras showed everything. After investigation school administrators decided to let him go.
She was called upon to go pick him up from school. When they reached home , as a single mom, she wanted to hear from the father what the next step would be. Father’s phone wasn’t reachable and her frustration built up.
That evening mbu she questioned the boy why he broke other people’s suitcases and stole their money. The boy instead of apologizing just locked himself in the bedroom and played loud music.
After 3 days , the mother gets another place in a school along Kayunga Road. She comes back home , tells the boy to prepare to join a new school. The boy says NO!! Mbu he doesn’t like that school”
Kati the mother out of built up anger gave a slap 👋 and asked the boy, what in the world are u saying u don’t like the school? In that moment the boy punched the mother, the mother increased the slaps and it became a serious brawl. Its young sister and the maid who shouted and the neighbors in the apartments came to separate the boy who was beating his mother.
She went and locked herself in a bedroom and started crying 😢. She called me. Mbu she got my number from Mwasuze Mutya in 2022. It was a terrible moment hearing her cry. I thought someone had died banange
We’re in a sad generation. We’re raising animals in our homes instead of raising real children!!
How can a child not fear their parent?
Your mom punishes u with a slap and instead of being apologetic, you punch them back??
How dare you, beat your own mother??
How dare you disrespect the woman who carried u 09 months?
How dare you!!
Without hesitation, we picked up the boy, gave him some serious chai then took him to police for the night. The following day I made sure I ship him to the farm were I had a construction sight.
I told him, since u don’t want to go to school, here’s a good chance for you to use your energy that u used to punch 🤛🏾 your mother. When ur done , we’ll think of taking u to school.
I assure u in those 3 weeks he spent with us at the farm, he learnt a lesson.
Our farm always has work and it’s serious work. We designed a strenuous routine for him that would make him prefer going to school than staying at the farm with us. The 5am 🕔 program, construction 🚧, fetching water , irrigating plants 🌱 all these made him rethink his actions.
Then we started talking to him about stealing. A thief belongs to the prison but sometimes he’s burnt 🔥 on the road side.
In those 2 weeks, the young man wanted badly to go back to school but I kept saying no. The school you didn’t like is the school u badly wanted to join? Wait
This is why I say: boys must not be raised with soft hands. You crush them by being soft. I come from a traditional kind of parenting which says: a stitch in time save nine!!
I Don’t tolerate indiscipline in boys!! FIX IT immediately
A boy who’s indisciplined is a danger to himself, his family and the community at large!! He’ll end up prison!! FIX indiscipline. Don’t cover it up

Here is George Clooney response after Trump accused him of being a "Hollywood elite."
"Here’s the thing: I grew up in Kentucky. I sold insurance door-to-door. I sold ladies’ shoes. I worked at an all-night liquor store. I would buy suits that were too big and too long and cut the bottom of the pants off to make ties so I’d have a tie to go on job interviews. I grew up understanding what it was like to not have health insurance for eight years.
So this idea that I’m somehow the “Hollywood elite” and this guy who takes a shit in a gold toilet is somehow the man of the people is laughable.
People in Hollywood, for the most part, are people from the Midwest who moved to Hollywood to have a career. So this idea of “coastal elites” living in a bubble is ridiculous. Who lives in a bigger bubble?
He lives in a gold tower and has twelve people in his company. He doesn’t run a corporation of hundreds of thousands of people he employs and takes care of. He ran a company of twelve people!
When you direct a film you have seven different unions all wanting different things, you have to find consensus with all of them, and you have to get them moving in the same direction.
He’s never had to do any of that kind of stuff. I just look at it and I laugh when I see him say “Hollywood elite.” Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! Fuck you!"

If you want to live the Ugandan dream, having a certification matters. You will probably get a decent job and live long enough to realize, like many old people I am meeting these days, it wasn’t worth it.
If you want to sit on tables where important decisions shaping people, cultures, economics, etc are made, your certification gets you as far as the door. You must build relationships that get you front row seats.
Even if you got the best job, you will need to create several sources of income to meet the needs of those whose prayers have got you where you are today … and some relatives and people who will never get your kind of opportunities.
In your 20’s learn to follow. Work under someone whose vision you admire. Learn from them how they have hustled through and shaped their vision. This will give you an idea for creating and leading others. Before we have leaders, we have followers.
Learn to take life one day at a time. Even with the most inspiring vision, things get hard sometimes. You must calm down, and move one step at a time.
Prayerfully approach each day. Commit your ways to the Lord and he will make your paths straight.
Just arrived in #Chad, a nation on the frontlines of conflict, climate change, soaring hunger & a regional refugee crisis.
More than 2 million people here urgently need food assistance. This emergency calls for the world’s attention.
Social media is just an illusion cos in real life men still date single mothers, women date broke men. Some women support their man financially, some women go 50/50, Men still pay for Wigs, Rent, vacation. Don’t believe everything you see here. Offline is the reality
#BreakingNews: (For Americans) Taiwan -China reunification is a foregone conclusion.
It’s guaranteed to happen by 2030, 2035 or max 2040.
You got serious problems in the USA — debt, loss of dollar hegemony, crumbling infrastructure, inequality, poverty etc.
Heck, maybe even a civil war of your own.
Don’t embarrass yourself with a losing bet half way around the world.
Today, we bade a final farewell to David Alexander Charles Birungi Barlow. Birungi was born on the 3rd of July 1970 to the late David Alexander William Nsubuga Barlow and my mother's younger sister, Margaret Maria Nabitosi Barlow. He was my very special cousin and namesake.
At what point do we open up to kids that they won’t be making much money as Engineers, Doctors, Teachers or Lawyers? At what point do we tell them the truth that the people making real money are DJs, Bar Hosts, State House Middle men, Drug Dealers & Instagram Influencers?
In the financial planning world there is a term we often use called a runway (not the one at the airport) but you get the drift. If someone asks you how much runway you have, you are supposed to answer in months.
