The month of April in WCPSS (post-Plan B) saw 254 cases of COVID-19 at schools. 218 of those (85%) were students. And Leesville road Highschool saw a cluster. April was not a rip-roaring success for WCPSS.
WCPSS reported 40 (yes... FORTY) COVID cases yesterday (4/12). This is the highest one day count. About 85% of cases on 4/12 were students. More than 85% of cases were on campus 4/7-4/9.
Previous daily high "records":

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer urges schools and athletics to suspend in-person activities for 2-weeks.
This is a warning sign for the United States.
NEWS: Gov. Gretchen Whitmer urges a 2-week suspension of in-person high school classes, all youth sports & indoor restaurant dining. She stops short of ordering restrictions, instead asking for voluntary compliance to slow spread of COVID-19 as cases, hospitalizations mount
Reports coming out of plan A Wcpss High schools...kids not wearing masks right, kids sitting in empty classrooms with no teacher/sub learning virtually. Shall we go on? This is your mess @cmoore90@K_A_Sutton @Lindsay4Wake @RoxieCash3 @Christine4Wake @Karen4wake @HeagartyWCBOE
Wake County Public Schools will no longer require health screenings. Instead they will use the honor system that no one symptomatic is attending school.
@NC_Governor@WCPSS
We need to stay virtual through the end of the year. 40 days in a classroom is not worth their health! Give your staff time to get their vaccines and wait the 2 weeks after.

I expect clusters to begin in 20 days from Thursday and I expect many classrooms to finish the year with substitute teachers as staff quarantine for the mandatory 24-day period.
“The difference between previous surges and another possible surge now is "the people most affected now are the younger individuals,"”
This on the same week WCPSS is returning to Plan A with less than 40 days of school day instruction.

"All the things that we had planned for about kids in schools with this virus are really no longer applicable. We've got to take a whole new look at this issue." https://t.co/d6S7HiA2Ms

@AbcCollab you are an extension of Duke Hospital, a private healthcare organization connected to a massive private University, why do you need half a million dollars to do the right thing in the middle of a health crisis?
State Board of Education is voting today on this $500,000 contract with the ABC Science Collaborative to collect & analyze middle & high school student data from NC school districts going to Plan A. #nced#coronavirus#ncpol https://t.co/x7VL8oxH6X
There is a big discrepancy about distance to maintain inside classrooms under Plan A and distance to maintain at athletics events. More distance is required in stadiums than inside classrooms. Once again, WCPSS doing what is convenient for funding, not for health.
🚨 Briarcliff Elementary School 🚨
Has a cluster with 5 positive cases. 4 more pending since March 22, 2021. That puts them at a potential 9 positive cases.
