Abhijit Sarkar’s murder cannot be buried.
Abhijit Sarkar was not just killed. He was hunted. He was chased. He was murdered in front of his mother. And they even killed his dogs and puppies. And sexually assaulted his old mother.
Swapan Samaddar, the TMC councillor and one of the prime accused in the 2021 killing of Abhijit, has finally been arrested in West Bengal.
And yet, for years, his brother Biswajit fought relentlessly while an entire political ecosystem tried to bury the truth under power, fear and silence.
We petitioned the Supreme Court where we have names every accoused.
This arrest is not closure.
It is the beginning.
Bengal does not need selective memory.
There must be justice for:
Every murder.
Every rape allegation.
Every displaced family.
Every burnt home.
Every silenced witness.
Every cadre-protected accused.
Abhijit Sarkar’s last words in this video must haunt Bengal’s conscience.
Because his case was not an exception.
It is a window into what political terror looked like under the Trinamool Congress when the state government of Mamata Banerjee looked away.
Shameful & disheartening. The High Court is supposed to protect the fundamental right to free speech and expression which includes creative freedom. What kind of precedent is the judiciary setting? Voices can be muzzled? Free speech is an illusion? Autocracy at the peak!

Large-scale tree cutting in Pune’s Shastri Nagar area for an underpass construction project has triggered concern among residents and environmental activists, especially as the city continues to face extreme summer heat with temperatures crossing 40°C.
Former PMC Tree Committee member Arvind Gore questioned the removal of mature trees at a time when Pune urgently needs more greenery and shaded spaces to fight rising temperatures. He also raised doubts over the success of replantation drives, claiming many saplings planted after infrastructure projects fail to survive due to poor maintenance and monitoring.
Citizens are now demanding stronger protection for existing trees and better accountability from authorities before more green cover disappears in the name of development.

Pune Metro vs Nature? Citizens Raise Alarm
Pune’s metro expansion is now at the centre of a growing environmental debate. Citizens and activists allege large-scale tree cutting, lack of transparency, and limited public consultation in project approvals.
Experts warn that such infrastructure projects could lead to massive carbon emissions, requiring millions of trees to offset the damage. Concerns are also rising over the potential impact on Pune’s climate, with fears of worsening urban heat and long-term weather changes.
Citizen groups are demanding a review of the project, eco-friendly alternatives, and greater public participation before further approvals.
Is development coming at the cost of Pune’s environment?

@ECISVEEP@SpokespersonECI Online Grievances System of the ECI seems to be deliberately dysfunctional. Can't file complaint because can't type Complainant Name at all. Can type in all other boxes. Sinister strategy to disallow public grievances? Corrective action needed.
Trees on Ganeshkhind Road are being cut for “development.”
But is this development—or destruction?

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, policemen in plane clothes could be seen disconnecting a CCTV outside residence of a businessman Gaurav jain. They later allegedly broke inside the house and decamped with 22 tolas of gold. Five policemen have been suspended.
700+ citizens have filed a complaint to the ECI regarding the gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct by the PM in his address to the nation on 18th of April. The use of official government mass media platforms by the PM, for what amounted to electioneering & partisan propaganda during the operation of the MCC,

A major gap in Pune’s tree plantation drive has come to light after the Pune Municipal Corporation admitted it has no record of whether more than 17,533 trees planted in the last two years are still alive.
The issue came up after corporator Datta Bahirat asked for details in the general body meeting. PMC said it planted 17,533 new trees between April 2024 and April 2026 and also replanted 6,254 trees. At the same time, permission was given to cut 7,132 trees.
But when asked how many of the newly planted or replanted trees survived, PMC said it does not have that information and would need a separate survey. Officials have now asked all 15 ward offices to collect the data.
The problem is bigger than it looks. Pune’s green cover is only around 10% in the old city and around 5% in newly added areas. Despite this, PMC has announced a target of planting 50 lakh trees in the future, even though it currently has no proper record of the trees already planted.
