@Soulphood@calvinrobinson I'd like to understand when people debate whether they are disagreeing about the solution, the causes of the problem, or disagreeing about the problem as well. Seems a lot of debates could be more efficient if that was established early on in the discussion.
The West Door at King's College Chapel was opened especially for me tonight so I could take this picture of the sunset over the wildflower meadow - which was nice :) and if you look closely you can see the college cat!

@ChrisHopkins99@jburnmurdoch@stephenkb@obsolete__units Yeah, 2 main reasons at national scale being the savvy renters are well outnumbered by the excluded (ie they cannot afford to buy [or save]) renters & that the increasing scarcity of housing stock to clear the market means rent exceeds mortgage interest & entails wealth transfer.
@DraperOr @snj_1970 Agree. The difference in behaviour between the Y/N groups must be much bigger in the exercise groups. Bottom 25% & top 2% can be expected to be worlds apart. The reasoning, though arguable, is that the change in behaviour for cessation is a quicker, simpler decision to sustain.
@BallouxFrancois To be fair (although apparently disputed), the depth of the comedown after the sugar rush from eating 343 ice creams could easily explain this!
@Arx1982 Or just line them up equal and cut ⅓ off the same side of each. It's rotationally symmetrical (ie identical) to yours & easier to gauge/manoeuvre the two apples, although not really the punchline to the joke!
@blurofficial I turned up to Wembley tonight & you weren't there. What's going on?? I thought this was a daily thing. Thanks for an amazing 2 nights! Special guests @LCGCtweets, @1phildaniels@paulwellerHQ thank you too! #BlurWembley
Indulging the "DEBATE ME!" shitheels does nothing to further the truth. It is exhausting because its purpose is to exhaust you and no credible person should do it.
Judas Priest are a good example of why debating the willfully ignorant is a fool's errand. It's expensive and exhausting to have to disabuse people of patent bullshit they are attached to. You have to educate people who do not wish to learn and do not trust you.
@IronEconomist ... If someone thinks the earth is not round, maybe [telling them to run each time they meet someone who tells them the earth is round] would be quite effective.
Cybersecurity is about to get rough.
As suspected, AI is great at creating spearphishing attacks, emails that feel real but compromise security.
And they can do it at scale, where previously it took a lot of effort. Open source models seem capable, too. https://t.co/h9hmhK17Bi
@IronEconomist@DuncanLamont2@LeftWingGuy1066 The v problem in a sense is that you do want it loosely to be true forever, as land productivity grows(?), but just not with such a squeeze to balance the market. Then the other problem is endowment: like a ponzi or bubble, the planning reform but don't take the bottom out of it.
@DuncanLamont2@LeftWingGuy1066@IronEconomist Concur. Pretty sure the strongest belief is that owning is better than renting, then everything else is just solving for that belief whilst getting as much now as possible (incl thinking that better value property will appreciate better, as rule of thumb). https://t.co/Vh2OBRtM4N
This is the perennial foundation of UK property market prices: sufficient availability of first-time buyers at the margin, by hook or by crook, through market & govt efforts. Compounded by illiquid inventory of the bigger properties (no incentive to downsize) boosting scarcity.
@IronEconomist Possible, but just practically, a longer term means repaying the capital slower, so you pay less each month even though the interest rate & the borrowing amount are unchanged (ie moves it in the direction of interest only, which is better recognisable way to de-stress payments).
@IronEconomist @M_PaulMcNamara Is the 35% incl business cash holdings? It's a weird juxtaposition that we're talking about people who have the wherewithal for over £85k cash savings, but not the wherewithal to understand the limits & spread the risk, or perhaps privately purchase unbounded deposit insurance.
