The declaration issued from the sacred seat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib is not an ordinary statement—it is a matter of profound religious, moral, and Panthic significance for millions of Sikhs across the world. Today, the Five Singh Sahibs, after taking serious cognizance of the objectionable video controversy involving the alleged disrespect of Guru Sahibaan’s images, have declared Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as “Guru-Drohi” and “Anti-Khalsa Panth.” They have further directed the Sikh community to refrain from maintaining any form of association with him.

For every Sikh, Sri Akal Takht Sahib represents the highest temporal authority of the Panth. Its directives are not political opinions; they are Panthic pronouncements that command respect and obedience from those who claim allegiance to Sikh principles and institutions.

A person occupying the constitutional office of Chief Minister of Punjab carries not only administrative responsibilities but also a moral obligation to uphold the dignity, sentiments, and faith of the people he serves. When the supreme religious authority of the Sikh Panth publicly censures a sitting Chief Minister and declares him guilty of conduct deemed offensive to the Guru and the Panth, it creates a crisis of moral legitimacy that cannot be ignored.

Bhagwant Mann may continue to hold office through constitutional numbers and political arithmetic, but governance is not sustained by numbers alone. Public life is built upon credibility, trust, and moral authority. Once that moral authority stands gravely questioned by the highest seat of Sikh religious authority, the continuation in office becomes ethically untenable.

The issue before Punjab is no longer merely political; it is fundamentally about accountability and respect for faith. If Bhagwant Mann has even the slightest regard for Sikh sentiments, reverence for Guru Sahibaan, and respect for the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, he should accept moral responsibility and immediately tender his resignation as Chief Minister.

No office, no chair, and no political power can ever be greater than the honour of the Guru, the sanctity of the Panth, and the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. A leader who has been declared Guru-Drohi and Anti-Panth by the highest Sikh authority has lost the moral right to continue leading Punjab.

The people of Punjab deserve a Chief Minister whose conduct inspires confidence, commands respect, and remains above such serious religious and moral reproach. The only honourable course left for Bhagwant Mann is to step down and seek forgiveness from the Sikh Sangat.
