RIC researcher, Robin Fleming, said:
“Despite the fact, sleeper-cell attack rates have been low throughout 2026 concerns remain that the STG won’t be able to sufficiently counter the threat of ISIS. Attacks may have been low... but raids & arrests of cells were even lower."
A new piece in @thenewregion by @vvanwilgenburg quoted RIC researcher Ghassan Bazo concerning recent elections in North and East Syria (NES):
"Even after recent unity talks many core disagreements remain unresolved."

5/ Today, 21 parties issued a statement criticizing the electoral mechanism for the Syrian People’s Assembly, particularly the exclusion of women and minorities.
The group affirmed their desire to build a "democratic, pluralistic and decentralized" Syria.

1/ May 24, representatives for the Syrian People’s Assembly were elected from Heseke, Qamishlo & Kobane. 9 candidates were elected for these 3 cities, and another 2 in Derik were chosen without an electoral process.
4/ Rami Eid al-Rahman, @syriahr director, condemned the process saying:
"The Kurdish seats in the People's Assembly are nothing but a sham, a betrayal of the Kurdish people."
The Syrian Union Party also demanded fair representation for Christians and Syriac-Assyrian community.

1/ Today, a number Kurdish political parties gathered to voice concerns over the “Syrian People’s Assembly elections,” questioning whether the process reflects inclusive political representation.
4/ Abdulilah Arabo, prominent Kurdish politician, told RIC the parties are “not satisfied,” but said they will not boycott the process, stressing continued efforts to secure Kurdish rights.
