These cave records, painted or engraved on rocky walls, are graphic forms of communication used by prehistoric groups that inhabited the region of the Serra da Capivara National Park, the largest museum open air of Latin America, with about 940 archaeological sites, located in São Raimundo Nonato, southern region of Piauí, Brazil.

The oldest representation of cave art in the Serra is 29,000 years old, "that is, when it began in Europe and Africa, it began here as well," says the French-Brazilian archaeologist Niede Guidon, who dedicated his life to researching the Capivara Mountain.
