"Privilege" is being able to buy a £2-4m house in the catchment area of a good state school and have the taxpayer cover your child's education while enjoying 5star holidays, top of the range luxury cars and building extensions. You also have a substantial nest egg of said £2-4m house , mortgage paid off and a nice big fat pension to retire on as you let the state / the ordinary working tax payer pay for your children’s education 👇👇
But @UKLabour think it’s fairer to add 20% vat on the education of kids , some of which are SEN / disabled kids , whose parents are ordinary working people like plumbers , electricians , taxi drivers , nhs nurses .. these parents already pay their taxes & save the state/ tax payer £billions every year NOT to educate their kids , this free’s up valuable state school places in already overcrowded state classrooms … it’s an ideological mystery 🤔🤔
@EducationNotTax
Whitehall ‘braced for private schools collapse’ due to fee rises. This will go down as the most damaging education policy in a generation - punishing families & stripping away choice. I'm proud to support the legal fight against it - must be stopped.

📚 Taxing Education: The UK vs. The Rest of the World 🌍
I’ve just received my granddaughter’s private school bill for January, and her additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision has VAT added. How is this fair?
As of January 2025, the UK is imposing 20% VAT on private school fees, including SEND education. This decision puts an extra financial burden on families who often turn to private schools because state services cannot meet their children’s needs.
💡 How does the UK compare to the rest of the world?
•Most EU countries: Educational services, including SEND, are exempt from VAT to keep them accessible.
•Australia, Canada, and the U.S.: Education, including specialized support, remains untaxed, recognizing its critical importance.
•India and South Africa: Even where taxes apply, basic and SEND education are often exempt or heavily subsidized.
Yet in the UK, families like mine are being penalized for seeking the best for their children. Instead of supporting education, this policy risks making specialized services even less accessible for those who need them most.
📢 Why is the UK taxing education when so many nations prioritize making it affordable?
Interesting that tax on products for health reasons can wait until October 2026, but tax on children's education MUST come in immediately. I look forward to the Gov getting hammered in court over this.

@bphillipsonMP More apprenticeships, more vocational courses and technical colleges are needed, not necessarily more students at university with a lifetime of debt to pay off.
I’ve made over £100 completing prolific studies. I think my favourite was one where I had to watch a clip of Grey’s Anatomy! Can’t beat getting paid for that 😌
Hey Prolific participants!
We’ve launched a brand new look 🎉 and we’re running a competition to celebrate.

@sarajcox My song is ‘Say Romayne, say Romayne, when no is around you, say Maynee I love you, if you ain’t playing game’ A manager in Tesco sang it to me many years ago when I was doing promotion dressed up as a fudge bar. I now sing it to my friends when I’ve had a drink.
If you live in the Gwent area and have any 12-15 year olds in your family that missed their vaccination slot, there are walk up clinics next week (no booking necessary)

Astounding how many people don’t know what gender critical means. It simply means that one doesn’t think that been born female or male should limit how a person dresses, is educated or have their career choices limited because of their sex. Women don’t have to wear make up
Never mind Coco Pops, do you know why Corn Flakes have a cockerel on them? It's all thanks to the Welsh language.
When harpist Nansi Richards met Kellogg she told him his name sounded like the word Ceiliog (cockerel). He liked it - & coloured the bird to match the flag of #Wales!
The utter, utter irony of #eddieizzard talking about being “promoted to she” above the faces of 16 murdered women.
Yeah, being a woman is great - until you walk home in the dark. Or try to leave a violent partner. Does that count as “girl mode”?
