@VeritasAnchor You have no proof that the New Testament was corrupted. In fact, various ancient manuscripts are highly consistent between each other regarding the same text. And they consistently, down through the centuries, say nothing about sealing marriages for eternity.
@VeritasAnchor The restored gospel? It contradicts the NT on marriage. Anything that contradicts the NT is false. “Death” doesn’t mean physical death, it means spiritual death. Christ has the power to seal. He also has the power to cast Mt. Everest into the ocean, but that doesn’t mean He will.
“A married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives” (Romans 7:2).
“A wife is bound by law as long as her husband liveth” (1 Corinthians 7:39).
In the resurrection, people “neither marry, nor are given in marriage” (Matthew 22:30).
Matthew 16:19 says Christ gives authority to “bind” and “loose,” but it never identifies this as authority to create eternal marriages. No apostle in the New Testament performs or teaches a marriage sealing.
@pickover Only if there are other universes beyond ours. And that our universe doesn’t encompass spacetime but shares the same spacetime with perhaps trillions of other universes that began with a bang.
@TLRationalist It’s bizarre whenever someone sees a system, which doesn’t possess moral agency, as morally good or evil. I can see this sort of thing happening in medieval philosophy. It’s called reification.
@jaredgarrett “Do not attend, view, or participate in entertainment that is vulgar, immoral, violent, or pornographic in any way. Do not participate in entertainment that in any way presents immorality or violent behavior as acceptable.” https://t.co/2mq0KtesLW
Depends on how strict his standards of success were. I read a water-witching challenge that had pictures. The pictures had dots on them to show where the water-witchers tried to locate water. One of them was really close. Most of his dots were right above the buried water pipe. Not good enough when $1M is at stake.
"Can you recite a God with no body, no parts, no passions, one undivided essence, and three persons who are still one being?" Yes. But God is normally described in terms of His attributes, not His essence. His attributes are described here. The page links to the appropriate verses describing His divine attributes. https://t.co/wGgXfnbSFK.
I never said you can't be Christian. But the Jesus from 3 Nephi 9 is not MY Jesus.
None? Then there was no doctrine to remain unchanged. God can't apply a doctrine that doesn't exist. So where are we now in this? Two LDS leaders making very different decisions without doctrine to guide them, only society around them. And it definitely looks like left-wing Progressive society.
@pbabinski91 So you believe 3 Nephi 9, that Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace destroyed 16 cities with water, fire, and earth, and killed perhaps millions of people?
