I cannot believe we have got to the point where a ball lightly touching the tips of someone’s hair is being measured by a Snickometer in order to disallow a goal.

The ball’s trajectory and spin were not affected at all.

The offside law was created to stop goal-hanging - it was never intended to be an exact science.

It was never created so that one day artificial intelligence could measure toenails offside and use a snicko to check if someone’s touched a ball.

It was created to stop strikers from man-marking goalkeepers all game.

VAR was meant to be reserved for clear and obvious decisions.

We used to understand that football is better and more entertaining when goals are scored.

That meant that for offsides: in case of doubt, the benefit was given to the attacker while in-line was always onside.

Now we’re using 3D generated AI technology to check toes to the millimetre and extreme microphones to measure minuscule decibels with the aim of disallowing goals and ruining football as a spectacle.

Do they ever ask if we want these changes, do they market test any of it?

What an extra time awaited us for the #Portugal v #Croatia game, unfortunately we will never get to see it thanks to the madness that VAR has descended into.

The Supreme Court will rule on birthright citizenship tomorrow morning…

It’s not an exaggeration to say this could be the most important decision in our lifetimes.

Under the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment, a foreign citizen of another nation can cross our border illegally at 9 months pregnant, give birth to an American citizen, and then return home. Their child is now eligible for US benefits and can vote in our elections.

The Chinese can also pay to have surrogate children on US territorial islands in the Pacific, then immediately ship the babies to China to be raised under the CCP. Those children are now eligible for US benefits and can vote in our elections.

Both of these scenarios are happening. It’s simply wrong and not at all what the Amendment was intended for, which was former slaves and their children during Reconstruction.

If it stands, US citizenship means nothing.

I've been busy writing about the draft. Just saw the Pirates are resting Konnor Griffin today as part of their plan.
He went deep last night in his first AB. He's 20. I get being careful with him from a long term perspective in general, but for Christ sake. It would be nice if they actually created the appearance, at least, that they are prioritizing winning and trying to make the playoffs. But they just don't and I, for one, find it infuriating.
If you want his elbow to have a day off, DH him at least. But winning games is never the goal. Following their misguided process is.

Unlike Roosevelt, Harding cut taxes and federal spending and allowed prices to adjust.

Roosevelt destroyed the US economy, manipulated the country into war and helped enslave a third of the planet.

FDR is the most overrated president in American history and it is not close.

People treat him like a saint. The reality is he inherited a recession and turned it into the longest depression in the history of the developed world. Every other major economy on earth recovered faster than the United States did under FDR. Sit with that. We had the most resources, the most industry, the most capacity, and we recovered slower than countries that got bombed.

Unemployment was still 19% in 1938. Six years into the New Deal. Six years of "bold experimentation" and one in five Americans still could not find work.

Why? Because his policies were economically illiterate. The NIRA cartelized entire industries and made it illegal to lower prices during a deflationary collapse. He paid farmers to slaughter livestock and plow under crops while people stood in bread lines. He launched a war on business so aggressive that investment dried up because nobody knew what insane rule was coming next. Even his own Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau, admitted in 1939 that they had spent enormous sums and "it does not work" and that unemployment was as high as when they started.

Then in 1937 his policies triggered a second brutal crash so embarrassing the textbooks gave it its own polite little nickname, the "Roosevelt Recession," so they would not have to attach his name to the failure in the obvious way.

A UCLA study in 2004 concluded the New Deal prolonged the Great Depression by roughly seven years. Seven years of extra suffering sold to you as heroism.

So what actually saved the economy? Not the alphabet agencies. Not the fireside chats. A world war. Twelve million men shipped overseas and the entire planet's industrial competition reduced to rubble. That is the "recovery." That is the legacy.

Strip away Pearl Harbor and FDR is a guy who took a bad recession and stretched it into a decade of misery with bad economics and a cult of personality. He is not ranked on results. He is ranked on the luck of being in the chair when Hitler invaded Poland.

Greatest marketing job in the history of the presidency. Nothing more.
