🎉 V1.0.0 officially released!
* New splatfacto model, nerfstudio's implementation of Gaussian splatting
* Complete rewrite of the viewer, now built entirely on viser
My biggest Gaussian Splatting scene yet, stitching multiple scans together in one Unity scene with @aras_p project. Inspired by Block-NeRF!
I'm fading between each scan here, but working on seamless transitions next.
Kew Palace captured with @insta360 RS 1”.

Everything is set up for the second #XRCHEF#design competition! 10 designers in a 45-minute sprint will compete to win the title of #XR Chef and a 500 USD prize.
Look at that flowing water!
This scene was made in unity with HDRP, using built-in volumetric fog, shadows, SSGI, volumetric clouds and tons of post processing magic. Oh and the object terrain blending highlighted in my previous tweet!

Meta, your NDAs suck and are totally unreasonable.
AI product team offered me a consulting gig for 35hrs a week as a “Design Engineer V” and pay was quite nice, gotta say.
Only problem is had I signed, I wouldn’t be able to talk or tweet about Midjourney, Runway, or pretty much any AI tool viewed as “competitive” to the work I’d be doing. Essentially all of them. Yet the reason they reached out in the first place was because of the work I was doing with these tools…it doesn’t make sense.
Plus, I wouldn’t be able to talk about or share any of the work I’d be doing with them. So the offer was essentially “we like what your doing, now please stop all of it and just do it for us instead”
So so dumb. After a couple months of lawyers going back and forth trying to make it work, they never gave terms even close to reasonable.
Huge waste of time. Sour taste in my mouth. Felt like they were trying to fuck me over. Luckily I have a lawyer who was able to review and point out the craziness.
Meta innovation lab on the other hand has been great. Probably cause they are used to working with creators and really are just there to help.
But in general, be careful with these big companies. A big deal coming in from someone like meta might look cool on the surface, but the reality in my case was they were just trying to own me.
😰 This is insane! When you search for #JohannesVermeer on Google, the featured post isn't the original artwork, but an AI-generated image. You can tell by the earrings since they didn't have light bulbs in 1675…
