Today AM kindergarten had fun during morning table centres. We were so proud of our puzzle skills we wanted to take a picture! We played alphabet bingo and learned a new math game called Bears in a Cave. We visited grade 2 and they read us the legends they wrote! @RonSouthernTwo
Today we began writing our mini books about groups we belong in. We labelled each page with a number and created our title page. We can’t wait to share them with you!
We watched a MysteryDoug about germs & discussed ways to stay healthy such as washing hands, sneezing/coughing into our elbows & not having our fingers in our noses/mouths! Ms Dorothy read a silly story & we checked out new books. Our grade 3 buddies helped us with computers!
We’ve been exploring our new science centre in the centres room! We are learning to mix primary colours to create secondary colours! We can’t wait to share with you at student led conferences! We also sorted pictures & chose 4 groups that we belonged to, to glue in our journals.
Ladders and mats have been set up in the gym for our gymnastics unit! Today we listened to circus music and acted like circus performers while learning to balance & move safely through the obstacles. We watched videos of our CSSI friends presenting their puzzle pieces! @cssi_ron
What a fun day for PM K! We had a partner math challenge. By using the number of bears outside the “cave” we had to figure out how many bears were inside the cave.
We wrote about being unique and had choir with gr 1 & CSSI. We ended the day in gr 2 listening to their stories!
We reflected on our understanding of belonging. We brainstormed what it means to belong to our kindergarten group. What are some things we do together? How do these things make us feel?
What problems have we been solving in math? What is my favourite station in the gym?
Our grade 3 buddies helped us login into our computer accounts for the first time. We also read stories together on their Raz-Kidz accounts.
We celebrated Dr Seuss’ birthday with Ms Dorothy in the Learning Commons and had fun on the new gymnastics obstacle courses.
We have been exploring gymnastics this week through movement and balances. Who was in my group and what animal movements did we create? We represented our age using birthday cakes and candles. Remember to return library books tomorrow and home reading books daily!
We talked about what it means to belong to a group then cut out pictures of groups. What groups do we belong to? We compared pictures of objects and explained why we think the object does not belong. Check out more on https://t.co/acK5PJVlLx and ask me to justify my reasons why!
AM kindergarten read Unique Monique and reflected on their understanding of being unique. Ask me to explain what makes me the same and different from other people. In family groups we talked about empathy and worked together to make a beautiful card for Mrs. Gavan! 💕
We had a palaeontologist visit our classroom today! He told us about dinosaurs going extinct millions of years ago and ways we can learn about them from their fossils found all over the world.
How can you tell if it is a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore? (Hint: it’s teeth!)
We worked hard with our grade 3 buddies to create anti-bullying posters for our school! What did we draw and write on our poster? How can I be an upstander instead of a bystander when I see bullying behaviour? 👚💕 #pinkshirtday
We finished presenting our puzzle pieces today! We learned so much about each other and our unique talents, characteristics and families. We read The Very Lonely Firefly and discussed the search to find it’s family. We talked about what it means to belong and the groups we’re in.
