Oops. @ProfJMitchell responds (see quoted tweet) to Ross Greer’s suggestion in parliament that the Scottish Green amendment is closest to his proposals.
@ZackPolanski Zack thinks the people of this country are mindless sheep who have no agency and just wait to hear 'narratives'.
No, these people had enough all by themselves.
'SNP HQ should have handed over the bank statements to the Finance & Audit Cttee but refused to. Procedurally the NEC should have forced the handover of those documents but was bullied out it by Sturgeon. Had procedures been followed, Murrell would have been caught' #JailSturgeon

Holding The Unions To Account
The whole point of a trade union is to represent the views and interests of its members - they are, or ought to be, bottom-up organisations not top down -'member led not activist led

Die #Allianz fordert 300.000 £ von #ProPalästina-Aktivisten,
ihnen droht lebenslange Insolvenz!
SNP spin again.
Oil & gas jobs fell UK-wide due to 2014 price crash, COVID, maturing fields — not just "Tories".
OEUK data shows volatility; Scotland benefited from UK-wide support, debt funding, and Barnett formula extra spending.
SNP/Greens' hostility (no new fields, Bute House agreement, windfall tax support) accelerated decline in Aberdeen.
"Scotland's hands" ignores GERS deficits & SNP's own record.
Just transition needs realism, not grievance.
Classic SNP oil grievance myth from the latest nationalist clown to join the circus 🙄🤦♂️🤡
Scotland wasn't independent — UK as a whole chose not to create a Norway-style fund (different pop, politics, timing). UK oil revenues helped fund national debt, welfare, defence. Scotland's geographical share of North Sea tax has been volatile; GERS shows it often offset by higher per-head spending via Barnett (~£8bn extra).
SNP couldn't manage their own £400+k funds properly and let an embezzler steal them, so the chances of fiscal probity by these chancers is zero.
Hypothetical £1tn ignores reality. Grievance, not governance.
@jackmiddleton95 In the 1980s the UK was dealing with:
high inflation
industrial decline
the 1976 IMF bailout
rising unemployment
collapsing heavy industry
Oil revenues were used to plug fiscal holes, not build long‑term assets. This was a deliberate choice: stabilise the UK economy now.
Stephen Gethins is (probably) the first MSP ever to have to correct the Official Report of a maiden speech. But this letter is not an honest account. Gethins did not “misspeak”. The published text of his speech initially included the false statistic (it was subsequently edited).
It’s genuinely fucking frustrating that the working class in this country think they’re owed something.
The best folk to tell them this are folk who got £36,000 of free Uni and now work a 4 day week for a Scottish Govt quango designing art installations for cycle lanes.
I remain concerned that Scottish Parliamentary procedures enabled and continue to enable the election of Convenors and Deputy Convenors from the same party for Parliamentary Committees. Given there was no scrutiny of this motion in Parliament, I have written to all members of the Parliamentary Bureau seeking answers as to how they came to agree this proposal. I will publish responses here.
I used to wonder how people become pliant drones for the worst regimes in the world.
Really all it takes is to give them a thimble of power.
Such weak insipid people.
The £10,000 is “given to you” as an equity stake. Scottish Minsters will own part of your home repayable on sale. The scheme will also push up house prices so you may gain little practical benefit.
The SNP’s latest use of freebies to buy votes (which the Scots keep falling for).
Of course, it’s not a free £10,000 grant—it’s a shared-equity scheme (like an interest-free equity loan) where the Scottish Government takes a proportional ownership stake in the property, which is repaid later.
You need to qualify for a mortgage in the usual way first. Then you can take Scot Gov’s £10k to help with the deposit.
If that comes to say, 5% of the purchase price, when you come to sell, say for £300,000, then you will pay back Scot Gov £15,000.
