@BenjaminCoheny @YankeePlug @A331E_twt @Culture_Crit It’s because many people in the US with the money to build such things do not want to. The age of art deco is long gone, replaced by the idea of “Universal style”. Postmodernism will eventually be replaced, but when that is, it’s hard to say.

@AuthorLeishman @Culture_Crit If you’re interested in why a lot of professors in architecture teach similar and buildings looks alike, I would recommend looking at the architects from Harvard and the Bauhaus in the early 1900s. People like Le Courbusier influence A LOT of everything built to this day.

@AuthorLeishman @Culture_Crit Architecture is partly a reflection of society at the time, just as other fields of art are. I don’t think that America really ever had a large gothic architecture movement, as that was mostly a European thing. Still an incredible building, but odds are it won’t happen again.
