I work in the IT industry, and I admit that I got worried I would lose my job because AI would replace me. The IT job market has been brutal. However, I’m not worried about that anymore.

I am a heavy LLM user. I also have some experience with vibe coding, and it helps me a lot. Here's a recent experience:

I get a task with some context. I give the same context to the LLM, write a good prompt — on par with the best task descriptions I’ve ever received in my entire IT career and the language is Java (=widely popular with a lot of learning data). So how does it go?

The initial prompt (which is as good as a requester will ever give to a developer) produces working code, but it’s not applicable in real life AT ALL. It’s like a Potemkin village: the first look is impressive, but if you look behind the curtain, it’s nothing like what the customer really wanted. You wouldn’t get paid for such a job.

It took me 21 follow-up prompts to get to the final result. Behind every follow-up prompt there was careful analysis of the code and testing by a human. I had to guide the model like a teacher. At one point, I even switched to a different model because the first one just wasn’t able to complete one last simple partial task. I guess it was hallucinating.

Again, this is not about laughing at AI or diminishing its value. As I said, I’m a heavy LLM user and it helps me a lot. But can AI replace me? Can you give it the request and expect it to deliver the whole thing until the end result without any human interaction?
Absolutely not. Not in my lifetime (and I am not even talking about something really complex here and when I write "human interaction" I mean input from an IT specialist).

Here’s the thing:
This is not just "one guy has this opinion and the other a different one". The big tech CEOs, who basically control the world economy, are scaring people by saying they will be replaced by AI and every time they talk the economy changes, the markets move. I’m convinced they know they’re lying at this point — just to keep stock prices up, prevent the AI bubble from bursting, and keep the hype going a bit longer. This kind of manipulation is absolutely not okay. It will have (and already has) a deeply negative impact on the global economy and on people’s lives.

Here's the bottom line:
If you are working in a similar sector as I am and if you are scared that AI will take your job: don't be. We just got a new tool. A good one, but not a replacement.

PS:
At this point, I wish I could end this post on this positive note, but unfortunately, I am still worried. I am expecting a big economic crisis, but not because of AI taking jobs. The wars, the politics, the debt, the money printing, the greed, the megalomania — they are leading to unemployment, poverty and worse. But that’s for another post.
Let's just hope it will be better than it looks like.

Just a litte "studio" update.
Today I put on new strings on my bass guitar and after a lot of guitar recordings, now I am back to recording bass! I just finished an awesome "true" metal song and tomorrow I will be recording a rock/blues bass for the second Aeon Empire album which will be very strong I think. Probably even more catchy than the first one ;-)

If my profile pops up in your feed from time to time, there is a good chance you saw my posts about me recording bass and guitars for my new band. Now, I would like to announce who will record the drums. I am very happy to announce that Luděk Struhař accepted the invitation and will record amazing LIVE drums for the whole album. He has been a friend of mine for 20+ years; he also recorded the drums on the first Signum Regis album. He is a great drummer and also a singer and a songwriter. An all-around great musician.

PS: I haven't announced the name of the band yet. We (my brother @Tommy7710469611 and I) already have a name, but we are still evaluating it and double-checking it from every angle. The name just has to be good and it's hard to find a name that hasn't been used yet. If you have some great names for a band and want to suggest them, feel free to write it in a comment. As I said, we already have a name and I am quite sure we will go with it, but I am just curious :-)

Back to recording bass!
After weeks of playing electric guitar only, the bass felt really weird. Just HUGE :-)
I recorded a song called "Bound in Chains". The bass was really easy in this one, but hey. Sometimes you just need to lay down a solid foundation for everything else. Not every day is a "Charles Berthoud/Billy Sheehan" day ;-)

The recording is going well. Today I finished the second song with my new strings. This one is called "Bound in Chains". I found a little spot where to use this slide. Just a couple of notes, but still. I think it's cool to have a slide here and there :-)

I just finished recording rhythm guitars for a song with a working title "Invincible". It was fun and I am happy with the result. This one is in drop D tuning.
Now it's time to work (again) on the lyrics.
At this point, I am quite sure, it will get a different name, because that word "invincible" doesn't work that well in the context of the chorus. I will think of something else.

I am putting on new strings! That can only mean one thing... actually, it could also mean that the old ones are completely destroyed, but that's not the case. The old ones still sound OK, but I want to record something and for that, I like to use new strings😎

There is a lot of talk about AI replacing musicians and it's quite depressing, to be honest, but my way of dealing with that is doing even MORE human music. I am a bass player, but electric guitar is increasingly becoming my new passion, I enjoy practicing it and learning new things. I've been spending more time practicing than I have in a very long time and it feels good.

Actually, I am starting a new thing and I am now recording both bass and rhythm guitar. Will anybody listen to that music? Will it be even possible to stand out and make a difference in the ocean of new music (both AI and human)? This is the kind of question that I am (and many others are) dealing with these days, but I still want to keep on recording original music. As long as I enjoy the process, everything is fine, I guess. That's the bottom line. Once it's released and there are people interested in it, that will be the cherry on the cake.

When the album Hey Stoopid was released, I was 9 years old. I heard the title song on the radio and I thought it was OK, but I didn't really care. I guess it wasn't heavy enough, it wasn't angry enough. I was much more interested in Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction and stuff like that. Now, 34 years later, I am listening to that Alice Cooper album over and over again and thinking that "this is one of the best albums in the hard 'n' heavy genre, ever". I wonder if kids who listen to extreme metal now will, too, slow down one day and start listening to this kind of sound :-)

I, too, stream music and I don't buy many physical CDs anymore, but sometimes I do. After a bunch of "spins", I thought that the new #Helloween album is really good and worth owning and supporting. The more you listen to it, the better it gets. I also wanted to read some of the lyrics, there is a bonus track that's not on Spotify, etc. All songs are good, but I like some of them more than others. Here is my little ranking of the songs:

AAA songs:
- Savior of the World
- We can be gods
- Into the Sun
- This is Tokyo
- Hand Of God

AA songs:
- Giants on the Run
- A little is a little too much

- Under the Moonlight

The bonus track (Out of Control): I haven't listened to it yet.

Just a note: Both are phenomenal, but I am a little bit more of an Andi Deris guy that Michael Kiske guy. However, on this album, I totally dig Michael Kiske. In my opinion, he sounds better than ever.
