Three hundred cheers for Simon Hefner’s excellent “Hinterland” article in yesterday’s telegraph in which he correctly lambasts the Proms and the BBC for being ‘depressing proof that classical music is caving in to the cult of inclusivity’.
There are very few things I actually hate but a great many things I dislike hugely. Thankfully there seem to be no plans for a ’dislike crime’, but I’m not holding my breath.
@jjohnstonmezzo @E_N_O I’m afraid the ignorance of the ENO is very much on a par with the general decline in standards across classical music broadcasting in the UK. Mornings on BBC are all about the presenters who patronise their listeners by telling them the quality of both performer and composer.
The Radio 3 extension sounds spectacularly dismal but perhaps the old Radio 3 could now revert back to what it used to do best and leave the musical wallpaper to its new channel.
This Burns Night, enjoy a recording of ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ from @RoryBoyle_Music’s ‘Twa Burns Songs’, arrangements of two traditional Scottish folk songs for SABar and piano 🎶.

I just signed the petition calling on Paula Vennells, the former CEO of the Post Office to be stripped of her CBE. Will you sign too? https://t.co/g3G4DQKIop #MrBatesVSThePostOffice
@kelvmackenzie Sir Ed Davey should have his knighthood stripped for his horrendous handling of the Horizon scandal.

@StevenIsserlis Such pertinent words. It’s just a shame that some of his tougher orchestral pieces, like Connotations and Inscape, are so sadly neglected.
