Marques is actually the fourth F1 Race Director in six years:
Masi - Expelled for AD 2021 mess up.
Freitas - Fired after Japan 2022/Gasly crane incident.
Whittich - Leaves (sacked?) after GPDA letter to FIA with three races left. #F1
Niels Wittich told me he didn't step down from his role as #F1 race director. He was just fired and was told so today. Very strange things happening 3 races before the end of the season...

Fun event at the O2 to mark F1’s 75 years and great entertainment for the fans pre-season, although I’d hazard no team is bringing a fully-fledged 2025 car to it. #F1
Twenty drivers. Ten teams. One season launch.
Formula 1 to host first ever season launch event at London’s @TheO2 with all ten teams, their drivers and Team Principals, plus top entertainment to kick off the sport’s 75th anniversary year.

The F1 Race Director job is much more specialised compared to when Michael Masi took over and it encompassed all of Charlie Whiting’s (three) jobs. People do always say they would like to see Charlie’s pragmatism back, but it is arguably a better role post AD-2021. #f1
Niels Wittich has stepped down as F1 Race Director. Rui Marques, who is Race Director for F2 and F3, will replace him in Las Vegas.
FIA statement: “The FIA can confirm that Niels Wittich has stepped down from his position as F1 Race Director to pursue new opportunities.” #F1
Aston Martin went from being second-best in 2023 to slipping back into the midfield abyss. While not completely Fallow’s fault, he was responsible for rectifying it. Looks like they want to eliminate any potential conflicts in the technical team early on. #F1
Aston Martin has announced Dan Fallows will no longer serve as technical director but will “remain within the group.”
Worth noting Fallows joined the team from Red Bull where he worked under Adrian Newey, who joins them in March next year. #F1
In my opinion, better than Messi and Ronaldo. Always plays for the love of the game, scores bangers, and does the hard work in between.
Pay him what he asks FSG.
@YeOldeMMRF Yeah they want more of a say in where the money goes, which is not entirely surprising when a few drivers have their own karting programmes.
@OSC4RISM Well the FIA can’t make money from F1 because of EU conditions (as part of approving the commercial rights deal in 2001). They reinvest a lot of the money from fines in motorsport projects such as the Cross Car and engineering scholarships.
The GPDA has released a statement in relation to the FIA’s recent crackdown on swearing in press conferences.
“With regards to swearing, there is a difference between swearing intended to insult others and more casual swearing.” #F1
