Journalist @andrewwaugh13 discovered GNB has spent $100,000 on strike ads since the beginning of Sept. Obviously different line items but come on, $100,000 could have supported many different families having difficulty isolating. Or paid into workers' pensions. 🤷
@Rebecca_M@CupeMaritimes The thing is…it does affect all groups! Imagine what it would look like if we accepted his offer and then kept fighting for our lawsuit against the same pension? We all need to take a min to decipher his BS! #nbpoli#CupeNB#solidarity
The courage to speak up should be commended! These are difficult work environments compounded with the added stressors of being under resourced!#nbpoli#childrenshealth
Higgs and his friends have comfortable pensions in the 100s of thousands per year for their own retirement, while they want some of the lowest paid workers to give up even a modest pension. https://t.co/dwNjUqYmo2 #CUPE#strike#nbpoli#nbstrike
NB: 'Do you support or oppose CUPE workers demands for wage increases that go above the cost of living?'
Support: 82%
Oppose: 15%

It has emerged as a central issue for the province in the ongoing labour dispute. The GLTS and CUPE 2745 pension plans involve about 2,600 of some of government’s lowest salaried employees. In retirement they have also been collecting some of the smallest pensions.
...that anyone would even want this made public, let alone have a popularity contest over it.
I'm shaking with emotion to see my province dragged through such hell only to learn of this level of incompetence and mismanagement behind it all.
TIME FOR A GENERAL STRIKE!!! 10/10
CUPE holding a press conference at 1:30 this afternoon, after the Province mandated members in healthcare back to work.
Local 1252 President Norma Robinson tells me some of those workers showed up for their shift today only to be sent home with strike schedules in place.
One comment about the update. Higgs couldn't meet w/ covid ctee that day because too busy taking quick action.
Higgs describing what he did that day: strolled around front of the Leg, quizzing random people about their knowledge of a document written late the previous evening.
I can see both sides of the argument for Coon/Melanson leaving or staying on the Covid committee. Personally I think we've reached Trump like territory where the "good person in a bad government" argument doesn't work any more and staying = enabling.
In NB we believe in free collective bargaining, negotiated collective agreements and respect for all the people who serve our communities #nbpoli @NBNU_SIINB @NBTFFENB @NBUSNB
@hannybee21V2 The constant honking coming from cars this morning is telling me that the gen public are unhappy with this latest gov tactic. Stay strong…we will hold the line and wait for your return.
@TeeeEmtee@justin_maybe This caused my eyes to roll to the back of my head!🙄 Perhaps it’s time for CUPE to start crashing their news conferences🤷♀️ Just a suggestion…it seems to be a thing🙄
It's been a day y'all. Remember that tomorrow there will still be CUPE members walking the line, and now they face an even more hostile government. Be extra kind, be extra gentle! Together we will win. ✊♥️
Ohhhhhh so now GNB is concerned about loss of life!
Not when Higgs was dancing on NB Day and removed all restrictions at the end of July.
Not when GNB was slow AF to reinstate measures when shit hit the fan in August-early September.
