Where is the accountability & humility in the actual response (see Carleton's link)? It's been ONE day since we, 1800 alumni, published our ask for a 10-yr anti-racism plan. The NFL and Nike are have offered more accountability than this...Please take more time.
Y'know, I'm not surprised that my alma mater responded to specific calls for anti-racist actions by promising to talk about the ideas soon and by... reminding alumni to keep giving the college $$$.
But I *am* disappointed.
Do better, @CarletonCollege.
We have received the statement from @CarletonCollege and we are taking time to read it carefully. We encourage you to read it carefully and provide your thoughts.
Anonymous comment "In the wake of the Rodney King [riots], students formed the Activist Coalition for Multicultural Education and made many of the same demands...little progress has been made and how many of the same issues persist at Carleton."

From an anonymous alum: "I know action will be taken. I pray that it comes swiftly and with minimal grumbling from those in positions of power at Carleton. Consider a Truth and Reconciliation event at the college." @CarletonCollege#letters4carleton#BlackStudentsMatter
From an anonymous alum: "Please take this seriously and be humble in your response. There is a time for trumpeting accolades and accomplishments but this is not it. People are hurt and are asking to be seen [and] heard." @CarletonCollege#letters4carleton#BlackStudentsMatter
Anonymous comment: "How are we going to drive this change in a way that is informed by Black students/alumni/faculty/staff without placing the burden of work on them (and other community members of color)?" @CarletonCollege#letters4carleton#BlackStudentsMatter
Fun fact: About 20% of alumni from classes 2008 onward signed the open letter for Carleton in only one week. Are you willing to listen @CarletonCollege?
