Is it just me or do most teachers spend their after-school time in the washroom??? Guess I’m too busy teaching to remember nature called during school hours!😬🚽 🚾 #teacherproblems#teacherlife#bladderblues
Ontarians deserve transparency from their provincial government, not backroom deals with private corporations.
As Mayor, I will withhold the 16 acres of City-owned land at Ontario Place and reaffirm that Toronto’s waterfront is not for sale.
FICTION: Teaching is such an easy gig, with a life work balance that really doesn’t feature work, huge pay cheques, benefits others can only dream of, and the pension! FACT: Not enough people even want to become a teacher that applications are STILL being accepted. #onted
The #BackToBasics rhetoric coming from @Sflecce implies that schools are not covering math, reading and writing.
In fact #onted has been doing more with less with cuts from @fordnation.
Let’s refocus the @OntarioPCParty on funding smaller classes, direct supports and resources.
Instead of working in partnership to improve our world-renowned #onted system, the Ford govt is focused on creating a crisis in public education where none exists.
We encourage the public to pay attention to the changes and join us to stop to this chronic underfunding #onpoli
CBC is a public broadcaster. Taxpayer money is used to run an independent news/cultural institution. Gov’t does not control CBC’s editorial policies. CBC does NOT disseminate disinformation. CBC is NOT an organ of the state. Pierre Poilievre’s assertions are disinformation.
If in person learning is better than online learning, and kids have “fallen behind” due to online learning during the pandemic, why do Ford and Lecce still require #OntEd secondary school students to complete online credits to graduate?
@EndWokeness Maybe your Twitter handle should be End Unnecessary Gun Violence! Btw, hello from a country where people don’t get shot for entering a wrong house. Please sit on that for a bit.
(THREAD) Today, the Minister of Education @Sflecce announced "the Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act," promising transparency and accountability by taking power away from school boards to make decisions free from transparency and accountability.
#ONted#OnPoli
The govt went to great lengths to inflate the funding increase to #onted. Hosting 2 media conferences over 2 days to create an impression that they are investing 100s of millions into ‘basic needs’ of students is completely disingenuous. Learn why https://t.co/eKRODGoIzM #onpoli
Just completed an interview where the journalist shared that Lecce is upset - he has no say in B of Ed curriculum. No MoE in history has had that power. Nor is it seen in ANY other industry.
For a govt screaming for less red tape that sure have some serious control issues #OntEd
The Ford government's decision to overhaul the language curriculum without consulting #onted stakeholders shows how little they understand the public education system and value educators.
Making critical curricular decisions without input from educators who are in classrooms delivering the curriculum is irresponsible.
Also, with 157 recommendations in the Right to Read Report, why is the Ford government solely focused on one--a reading screening tool? Because they believe standardized tests are the answer.
Educators know what students really need is adequate investment in resources to support students in classrooms.
