I, Too
BY LANGSTON HUGHES
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
“Eat in the kitchen,”
Then.
Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed—
I, too, am America.

COMMENTARY: Let’s say it plainly: There has never been a president as corrupt as Donald Trump.
There is no close second in our history.

Ohio's sales tax exemption for builders of new data centers was expected to cost ~$136 million in 2025.
The Department of Taxation now says the tax break cost Ohio **$1.57** billion in lost revenue, with most the savings flowing to Big Tech. https://t.co/3vjZxlg0iZ
#BREAKING: Hayes: “…it is hard dear viewer, to keep track of the very very long list of shady deals, and no bid contracts and outright corrupt crypto schemes that have been the hallmark of the presidency of Donald Trump…but I ask you tonight, to pay attention to the one he appears to be about to pull off, because it’s got to be the greatest HEIST in American history. A direct transfer of BILLIONS of YOUR taxpayer dollars directly into the bank account and the pockets of Donald Trump all dressed up as a settlement of a lawsuit in which Donald Trump is BOTH the plaintiff and also the defendant. It would be a maneuver that could nearly TRIPLE his net worth.”🤦♀️
Imagine if for Covid we had known the exact ~300 earliest people who had been exposed.
Would we have quarantined them all for the full incubation time of 2 weeks or let them choose to self-isolate at home across dozens of countries?
Yikes. 😬
Yesterday, Jeffrey Epstein’s former accountant testified under oath that Epstein’s estate paid a settlement to one of the women who accused Donald Trump of raping her as a minor — after Epstein had died.
That would end any other president instantly.
But the press? Barely a whisper. 🤐

Graham Platner: “I refuse to believe there is some metric of hard work that says the people I know in Hancock County that work 3-4 jobs to keep a roof over their head, that somehow Elon Musk or Peter Thiel or Jeff Bezos worked so much harder than them that they deserve to be a billionaire and these people deserve to live in poverty”
I wrote about Trump's stupid ballroom for @RawStory & once again ask the questions NO ONE HAS ASKED:
Where are the historical artifacts from the East Wing? Did anyone carefully store & catalog them, or are they sitting in a debris pile on a golf course?

I don’t want to drive on the same roads that certain people do.
I want special roads where I can drive without encountering them.
I want the state of Wisconsin’s Public tax dollars to pay for my special roads.
School vouchers in a nutshell.
New Orleans elected a Black man, but the governor eliminated his position, denying him a seat. Where have we seen this before?
In November 1868, John Willis Menard became the first Black person elected to the U.S. House of Representatives winning Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District. White people prevented him from taking office.
The only Black governor of Louisiana, P.B.S.. Pinchback, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1873 but was denied his seat.
