A local group backing plans for a segregated cycle route from Roseburn to Haymarket & through the city centre to Leith Walk

What's this, about £30k in billable hours for Balfour Beatty I bet. How you manage to fail to negotiate that corner from a near standstill in a 20mph limit Christ knows. We share the roads with these people. 1 word: BOLLARDS. #CCWEL@edinhelp
@iamonabeach@FinlayMcF@JohnfaeScotland Why do you continue to use a picture from during the roadworks when the narrow lanes meant that traffic was closer to the pavement?
@JohnfaeScotland@PidginPosting@fraserstevenson @CllrScottArthur But it was a problem the other way around before
You couldnt turn right out of Russell Rd onto Roseburn St as traffic wouldn't let them out
You used to see various attempts at going slightly left to then do a hard right, which reduced capacity
Maybe the problem is too many 🚘?
@PidginPosting@JohnfaeScotland@fraserstevenson @CllrScottArthur & with respect to the Roseburn Street / Russell Rd priority, there were regular queues on Russell Rd which were only partially alleviated by the left turn and going round the back streets & out via Roseburn Gardens
I can't see how flipping back the priority would make it better
@PidginPosting@JohnfaeScotland@fraserstevenson @CllrScottArthur Worth also noting how well the traffic (especially buses) is flowing on the main A8, even with the 'All-stop' pedestrian phase at the Tesco lights.
The design of Roseburn Terrace does a good job of deterring illegal parking/'loading' which used to hamper traffic flow.
Two exhibitions on the history of firefighting and modern cycling activism have opened at the Museum of Edinburgh @EdinCulture!

@fountainbridge Not sure. There is due to be a fuller impact assessment in due course (after 12 months of 'completion').
This was just an initial response to the specific concerns about queuing on RR/RS
Council response to the concerns on traffic queuing on Roseburn St / Russell Rd in the post #CCWEL world 👆
TLDR: the junction is operating as intended, with reduced traffic volumes since pre Covid times, and some small increases in queue lengths...
The blocking of the Roseburn Gardend has also impacted traffic movements but has removed 1000s of vehicles from a narrow Residential road, totally unsuitable for thay volume.
& finally, when considering options, the modelleling of alternative OptionB has worse queues on RR/RS
Worth noting that the changes to Tesco🚦 were to bring in an 'All stop' phase to allow safe 🚶♂️ crossings in all direction
The timings of the lights continue to prioritise the E-W traffic on the A8, which incudes multiple bus routes
The cycle route itself hasnt impacted timings
Melville Crescent gets a second chance
History - CCWEL was supposed to bring street trees and wider sandstone footways to Melville Crescent, and a return of the setted street carriageway (using the setts which currently lie hidden under the existing asphalt surface). It was, however, removed from the project in Autumn 2021 to cut costs.
Good News - We have won £2.1m from Transport Scotland to complete the work.
Why - Not only will the changes create a much more welcoming environment, but they will restore some of the historic features unique to the street’s World Heritage status. What’s more, the project will also benefit people travelling by foot, wheel or bike, complementing the fantastic, world-class CCWEL route.
When - Work will start on April 22nd, and continue until December this year.
