“So I decided to wait until my birthday on June 1st. I told myself that if I could make it six months without alcohol, I’d prove I didn’t have a problem.”

“By June 1st, I was the happiest I’d ever been. I slept better, handled problems better, and things that would normally upset me at work didn’t bother me anymore. I had much better mental clarity, and I felt healthier and fitter.”

El Agente Naranja fue un herbicida y defoliante utilizado por Estados Unidos en la guerra de Vietnam. Su nombre proviene de las franjas de color naranja que identificaban los barriles en los que se transportaba.

☣️Entre 1961 y 1971, EEUU esparció más de 80 millones de litros sobre el sur de Vietnam, en la Operación Ranch Hand. El Agente Naranja representó el 61% del total.

☣️Ante la imposibilidad de ubicar y doblegar a los vietnamitas, buscaron destruir la densa selva que ocultaba al Vietcong y eliminar sus cultivos de alimentos.

☣️Se estima que hasta 4,8 millones de vietnamitas estuvieron expuestos directamente.

☣️Hoy, hasta 3 millones de personas, incluyendo hijos y nietos, sufren enfermedades o discapacidades por la exposición.

☣️La dioxina causa cáncer, defectos de nacimiento (como espina bífida), daños hepáticos y neurológicos. Se han relacionado más de 20 enfermedades con este agente.

☣️La dioxina es extremadamente persistente en el suelo y el agua, pudiendo permanecer durante décadas o incluso cientos de años.

🚫Existen puntos de alta contaminación en antiguas bases aéreas como Da Nang y Bien Hoa.
