@QuintonLucasKC Mayor, I see your good heart and good intention behind your efforts to address this. But it will require a different and holistic approach. I have a concrete vision for really addressing it, if you would ever like to meet and discuss.
@QuintonLucasKC Homelessness…creating actual solutions to alleviate the root of the (very complex) issue…rather than knee jerk reactions and short sighted initiatives that aren’t well thought out. The recent efforts have failed in terms of foresight, vision, ROI, impact, and public perception.
@cnalive I’ve been saying this for YEARS! We will face an unparalleled social welfare disaster and real negative outcomes if Roe is overturned and we don’t build infrastructure of care ahead of it. RN, there are VERY few homes for single pregnant mothers and they are all full!

I got this from a former student this morning. I only share this because of historical dislike of grades/assessment. He failed the exam. I would have failed as a human to shut doors.
In a year where many communities have moved away from public transit, Kansas City has:
🚍provided Zero Fare Transit to all bus riders & enacted COVID-19 precautions
🚊secured streetcar expansion in both directions
✈️advanced our airport terminal project on time & on budget
@sofastm Not joking at all: I’ve had “stomach issues” every single Fri night and Sat since started in person after Labor Day. like clockwork...spend part my weekend in bathroom with these “stomach issues”. I couldn’t figure it out. Doc says it’s stress. But hey...it’s all for the kids!
@MonteSyrie I’ve been saying this too. There are a lot of advantages to async...like being able to connect with FACES. what % of communication is body language? We lose most of that with the masks. I’m constantly guessing how someone feels because I can’t see their face. Happy? Sad?
@hardlynormal Also, pets alert them to danger or intruders. Pets help keep rodents away. The mere presence of a pet (especially a dog) prevents them from being robbed or attacked.
This is applicable to any leadership. Every person is at a different place. So it's hard (maybe even impossible) to get everyone "on the same page". This goes for employees at work, players under a coach, volunteers at a nonprofit or church.
Leaders, it is essential to understand that the people you lead may not:
*process things like you
* have same motivations
* committed as you
* communicate like you
* need same level of support
* have same point of reference
You have to reach them where they are.
@karenraycosta “A local school” faculty had a week of “flex time” scheduled for teachers two weeks ago and then “they” had three covid cases from it and it forced them to do the following week’s PD remotely.
