Today we show solidarity in the workplace with the horrendous situation in Gaza.
Thousands of Palestinians - mainly women and children - have been killed by Israeli military operations and many more are injured.
We need an immediate and permanent ceasefire, an end to the humanitarian crisis and respect for international law.
@Fair2Pink@PenncareUNISON@unisontheunion@The_TUC @NorthWestUNISON @STWuk@PSCupdates@GMF_Palestine From our position in the UK as members of large working class organisations, I think pressuring the government for a peaceful resolution is not at odds with that, it just doesn't begin with the idea that Palestinians need slaughtering or that it would stop if hostages were freed
Happening now at SOAS with @LondonUCU in protest at management’s victimisation of students for their Palestinian solidarity activism.

This week, NEC members were invited to a drinks reception inside number 10 by the Prime Minister.
While every day Palestinians are being killed and their homes destroyed, it was only right to remind Keir of Britains role in enabling Israel to continue this genocide.
Framing the fight against Islamophobia as one protecting religious texts or prophets undermines the fight against the real issue: the structural discrimination and violence Muslims face daily.
This approach also plays into right-wing narratives, twisting it into a 'free speech' debate rather than focusing on protecting people. True British values—fairness, equality, and respect—demand that we address Islamophobia as a threat to individuals and communities. After the attacks on mosques during the riots this summer, it is clearer than ever that the focus must be on protecting individuals from prejudice and harm.
Adopting a clear definition of Islamophobia does not stifle free speech—it ensures that Muslims are not targeted, dehumanised, or discriminated against, while safeguarding everyone’s right to engage in legitimate debate.
@infamous_wurv Prob ok as it'd quickly be pointed out that ending genocide would help re: hostages & lead to a conversation about settler colonialism since 1948. Also, cleaners getting equal pay would be more achievable as public sector funds & cost of living would not used on arms spending.
SUPPORT OUR TRADE UNIONS 10 OCT
JOIN OUR MASS LEAFLETTING OF THE PUBLIC
This Labour government, funded by trade unions, continues to stand by Israel.
It is time to step up our action in workplaces around the country to call for an end to that support.

Pleased that Labour conference has just carried a @unitetheunion motion to stop the Govt’s cruel cut to the Winter Fuel Payment for pensioners.
I voted against this cut in Parliament & I’m pleased that Conference supports my decision.
The Govt should withdraw this plan.
Reeves is asked if taking £7,500 to buy clothes was a mistake. Reeves explains it was given by an old friend.
What about Labour taking £4 million from a Cayman Islands registered hedge fund that invests in fossil fuels and arms arms manufacturers. Were they old friends too?
Great photo in The Morning Star from our lobby and rally outside the Labour Party conference today. See link to article in comments.
