I've been flying commercially since 2007.
Went long-haul in 2015. Dropped to 75% hours in 2022.
Not because I fell out of love with flying. Because I built enough on the side to buy back my time.
Here's how it happened π
@drgurner And itβs important to realise that we are all humans, some days we will fall short of whatβs βacceptableβ. Thatβs still ok, so long as we strive to get back to it as soon as possible. Itβs never a straight line up, take the punches and roll with them.
@financefraz Yes, I hope so. My better half has this, equity and cash flow from the property, so it makes sense.
It's people who will have to rely on the state pension, which will be a shocker if there's no other backup plan.
@Invested_In_You I think it's important not to let the tax tail wag the dog. We all inevitably end up paying taxes, but concentrating on cash flow (and increasing it if that's the goal) should be the priority.
Protecting it and being more efficient can come later.
@EllardKing It's the flat line for almost 15-20 years, then the almost vertical line over the next 5-10. That's the penny drop moment, and it's awesome.
The problem is, it's not shiny and instant; it's too boring for most! π
@CliftonSellers I think the most successful will be able to work alongside AI. Be the human-in-the-loop at all times and the leader in the relationship. At the end of the day, it's a tool, and getting to know how to use it is unavoidable if you want to stay ahead.
I call it the ignorance tax...
If you're not working towards the goal you're trying to achieve, then you'll never learn.
It's not right or wrong; people can do what they like with their time.
I think the real win is when you can produce $10k month after month, and it's not just a one-off.
21 years in property. The latest chapter: 3-phase electrics going into the house we live in.
Not glamorous content. No before-and-after photo. But the maths only pencil out if the original supply can handle the load of both conversion units running.
The thesis took years to land on. We exited straight BTL over the last 8. The unit that pays for itself isn't a side property anymore. It's the home we already live in.
Three weeks of heads-down work on what comes before revenue. Back to it.
