A new P&S article by @RossetJan, Jérémie Poltier, and Jonas Pontusson argues that insights about unequal policy responsiveness can be gained by exploring temporal dynamics and variation across policy domains, as well as variation across countries. https://t.co/4LnwtK5RGS

New article in @EJPRjournal with @Carsten80554073.
We use election surveys going back to the 1960s to show that inequality in policy congruence varies depending on the political mobilization of less affluent voters (through unions & turnout).

New MOOC on political citizenship !
This 14h introduction course has been set up by my brilliant former colleagues @unige.
I am happy to have contributed to the bits on electoral behaviour and on political representation.

[OPEN ACCESS] "Emotions and climate strike participation among young and old demonstrators", by Jasmine Lorenzini & Jan Rosset

Poor people in rich countries:
Usually the richer the country ➡️ the better off the poor are.
But not always.
The US, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland are just as rich as Norway, but the poor are closer to the poor in Slovakia, than the poor in Norway.

We are hiring a PhD student in the (kind of timely) SNFS project “Transformation of Swiss Finance” @sspunil@unil. 4 years, 100%, nice working conditions and a dynamic team with @LAjdacic and #FelixBühlmann@ObElitesSuisses. Advertisement is here: https://t.co/WpdjAVOpyI
The opinions of policymakers are more congruent with those of the better off & policy choices also reflect their preferences more clearly. As social distance between rulers & ruled increases, representative democracy gets more class biased

We find that youth are more fearful and more likely to state they protest to defend their interests, whereas senior strikers are particularly angry and their main motivation is to pressure politicians. Our findings help to understand the climate strike movement’s heterogeneity.
Delighted to see this paper with Jasmine Lorenzini out in @SocMovStudies
We analyse the emotions and motivations of climate strikers in 11 cities around the world and show differences across age groups.
