@ryans_wx @shawnmilrad I know this is an old thread, but I have a question. What chemical reaction (via shortwave radiation) occurs to activate this chlorine and/or produce it. I understand the disruptive nature Cl has on O3, but wondering how the chlorine arises out of UV radiation hitting PSCs.

@wxJeffDuda @CameronJNixon Looks like buoyant parcels only originating from ~800 hPa level. My guess is the bow echo was gliding along the stable BL with bowing elements enhanced by a rear inflow jet and hail growth supplemented by dry pockets aloft.
