Nuclear is much more popular nowadays, and states are repealing their nuclear moratoria. And yet, anti-nukes in NY are trying to go the other way and impose a (30 month) moratorium! "Tragically", their bill is unlikely to pass. Article link in reply.

They have only a few days to get both the state House and Senate to pass a bill this session. In later sessions, the NY governor's nuclear plans will have already moved forward.

The irony is that they're mainly making economic, vs. environmental, arguments. The logic is bizarre! Thinking that something will not be (economically) competitive is not a reason to not let it compete! Generally, the motive for not letting something (or someone) compete, is a fear that it will win. The best way to resolve economic questions is to let energy sources compete on a fair, level playing field. Literally banning development of one energy source, is an ultimate example of picking winners.

UK's electricity price rise cited by you was 90-100% nominal.
So, most or all of the price rise matched inflation generally.
That is the story.
