@mo_bakshi@EmSilverwood91@markrwilliamson I sometimes get off my bike because I feel so intimidated by the "electric bike" and motorbike crowd. I'm amazed there hasn't been a death yet - it's a fatal mix of pedestrians and motorised bikes.
THIS. Have you noted Phillipson has cut the extra funding to state IB schools in order to champion more STEM? IB is the last bastion of modern languages and a broad curriculum with arts. My older boy went to the best comp in the country Impington Village College for 6th form, which does IB. Labour's cutting it off at the knees. Ditto Parkside in Cambridge.
@TerryMac999@markrwilliamson Nope. I've lived in Cambridge for over 30 years. I'm appalled to see millions spent on a quiet road which is already great for cyclists, while no one seems to give a damn about unregulated electric bikes (basically mopeds) on medieval streets and terrible potholes.
@roisinmurphy I loved those books and the pictures they cast in my mind have stayed with me: owls and turrets, dark stone corridors. I keep meeting Steerpikes in real life. But I don't think I could read them again, outside a desert island.
Yes, I am a living parody of myself, but someone has to write about the HUGE scandal troubling the Vatican of late โ transpires the "Hot Priest" calendar is a great hot mess of a fraud.

@horton_official The Newnham Riverbank Club was awash with writers. I swam with Christobel Kent and then spotted @sophiehannahCB1 , so had a swim with her too. Utter bliss.
@susiesymes1@horton_official I'd love to read your article Susie. I was fine today, but my friend Christobel told me to dry myself as soon as I was out to better ensure that I wasn't bitten.
@andrea_wulf@j_amesmarriott What a brilliant review to start the Traveller ball rolling. It's a high accolade indeed when it comes from such a discerning reviewer.
@notestomyboy That's wonderful, I'm delighted for you both. One of my boys was out of school for some time and didn't sit GCSEs. Six years later, he's about to graduate from uni with great grades. Butterflies emerge from chrysalides.
Anyone near Althorp this weekend? I'm at the @AlthorpLitFest where I'll be in conversation with @AnnaWhitelock on her history of James I, The Sun Rising, @annesebba discussing The Women's Orchestra of Auschwitz, the BBC's Frank Gardner taking thrillers, William Sieghart dispensing wisdom from his Poetry Pharmacy, and Keeley Hazell on her memoir Everyone's Seen My Tits. Something for everyone.
Do you know about zombie ant fungus and mind-controlled ants? Do you want to see a radical new performance blending neuroscience, mycology, sound and behaviour. My brilliant friend Bridget Nicholls, founder of Pestival, conservationist and sage of all things insect and bat related, has produced the world's first science-musical-insect-fungi extravaganza. It's at the Royal Institute this Sat/Sun. Brilliant panels afterwards. I'm going. Book here https://t.co/ZidYQoBRaZ
